IMO - the B1G and Ivy League are the best examples, but it's a lot more common than people think. The MIAC and GPAC are great examples, as is the Big East. The NSIC and UMAC are two that are much less strict.

I should rephrase - I don't know what the Summit League values in new members. If they value adding a school with a similar profile, that might be an uphill battle for MSU as their closest comparison is UNO.

College administrators are full of vanity and I think it plays out a lot in athletics.

Looking forward to see who’s hosting when they play Hawai’i.

      • NDSU to FBS is a done deal - I think it's a solid move for them.

I just hope they schedule UNM at home next year so I can see the Lobos in person.

I don't know - I'm just asking questions. I just don't think this move exists in a vacuum.
I don't know if Denver leaving the Summit affects MVFC since Denver doesn't sponsor football.

If South Dakota State joins North Dakota State in the Mountain West, then we can probably start worrying about the future of the MVFC.

          • The comedy act that is the California State University (comma) Sacramento continues to be the gift that keeps on giving...

CSUS (emphasis on the "SUS") is reportedly trying to buy their way into an FBS conference, with the source article citing SMU's successful move from the 'Merican to the ACC (though, in retrospect, that almost seems like a lateral move). The only difference is that SMU's boosters have deep financial pockets. I don't think you can say the same for Sad Sac State.

But, hey, Sad Sac State is at least getting $7.5 million over the next five years from some casino for ... whatever reason.

            • I found this interesting. It is a rather large document but gives insight into D2 athletics. Sonoma State had a consulting firm do a study on bringing back athletics.

              • Motor City Bowl is done after 29 years. Earlier the LA Bowl ended. I expect more of this.

That's too bad. I enjoyed watching that one. Usually a MAC school and attendance was always decent, with some quality games.

Of course having a bowl game in this era is tough. Having a bowl game in a cold weather climate is even tougher.

                    • Lourdes was fairly competent in athletics as an NAIA school.

Other Northwest Ohio colleges I question how they will survive: Bluffton and Defiance

Sources: The MAC has voted to formally add FCS Sacramento State into the league as a football-only member starting in 2026. The cost of entrance is expected to be $18 million and a deal is expected to be announced in the upcoming days.

That's a whole lot of money to get that UMass game!

The stupidity continues in FBS college football.

                            • Why did Sacramento State have such a hard time getting an invite to a FBS conference?

Also, I read on social media that the "Ball - Sac" game should be a good one.

Add 5 million more to the NCAA for the move up. The tail is wagging the dog.
