With St Thomas leaving......... does the CCHA go with 8- or add one or two of those teams? Yes, 6 would be enough for an Indy conference.

Haven't heard any more news about places like Iowa, Illinois or Nebraska adding hockey, and the same for Tennessee State.

Need to have full D1 members to create a new hockey conference I have read. I wonder if that is true.

News: NCAA is facing an uphill battle with a shortage of charter plane availability for men's and women's NCAA Tournament. Member schools have been notified to expect some upheaval that could include refueling, late notice of departure times. Team manifests due this week.

It is interesting. I suspect the Power 4 schools will be fine. But for Podunk U who wins the NCC (Nobody Cares Conference), enjoy your 15 minutes of fame with a side of travel delays.

NCAA D-II Membership Report for February is out. Shawnee State and Texas A&M-Texarkana were the only 2 schools to submit an application to apply to D2 by the Feb. 1st deadline, with Shawnee State getting approved for the expedited provisional membership. Lackawanna and Monroe were not discussed, so they will have to wait at least another year.

Additionally, the committee had no qualms with Utah State-Eastern potentially applying to D2. They were just gauging interest/feasibility this time around, so nothing's official, but it seems reasonable to expect an official application from them in the near future.

USU Eastern doesn't sponsor football, so I wouldn't get my hopes up

Which means either all those PSAC teams have to remove Lackawanna from their schedules or they'll all be playing a non-counting game.

Jamestown will join the GNAC in 2027 as a men's soccer affiliate.

With the departure of Simon Fraser, the GNAC would've been down to 5 men's soccer teams, and they've brought on NSIC members as soccer affiliates in the past, so with the Jimmies currently competing as independents, I figured this would be announced sooner or later

Wish the NSIC would add some more sports Men's soccer, Men's Volleyball, Women's Wrestling, Gymnastics/tumbling and Lacrosse. That's a big stretch but I think there are a few schools that could band together to make it work. If MSU is staying D2, I would like to see the NSIC / MSU add these options

I don't blame them for dropping it, but if Mary and Sioux Falls had kept their men's soccer programs, you guys would be 2/3 of the way there to having enough members to sponsor

I would imagine Augie and Mankato could come up with the cash. You can fill up a schedule pretty quick with nearby GLVC/GLIAC competition. I see the GLIAC just plays conference twice, so if the NSIC could sponsor at 6 schools you have 10 games built in. The GLIAC/GLVC schools are close enough that you can find 6 games to fill.

Depending on how scholarships and such are setup, the cost of attendance could have heavily subsidized the cost of running the program.

That's why SMSU added swimming several years back.

Why pick on those two? How about the other schools take up the sports that the NSIC already sponsors?
