That will drop the Midwest Sprint Football League to only four teams in 2027 unless they can add some more by then which is doubtful, IMHO. They had seven or eight teams a few years ago. *Fortunately, the Collegiate Sprint Football League is adding D'Youville (Buffalo, NY) this year which will bring them up to ten teams.

I always like to look at the background of a school that closes. They hadn't been around for about 60 years. Their endowment of $50+ million would be the envy of a number of schools trying to survive.

What surprised me was some of their alumni. Some pretty big names, in particular Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, actor Liev Schreiber, author Jon Krakauer (Into the Wild, Into Thin Air), and documentary filmmaker Ken Burns. That's impressive!

What surprised me was some of their alumni. Some pretty big names, in particular Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, actor Liev Schreiber, author Jon Krakauer (Into the Wild, Into Thin Air), and documentary filmmaker Ken Burns. That's impressive!

Yeah - it was sort of a 1960's experiment with a very unorthodox curriculum. They actually grew to be a fairly respected LAC (hence the alumni) and were members of the Five College Consortium with three other heavy hitter LACs and UMass.

Guess it goes to show that no matter how respected a school is, money is the final deciding factor.

Might be for a "Moving Day 2027" post, but St. Anslem is going down to D3 after the next academic year.

They'll join the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and will begin competition in the 2027-28 season.

Just read that. Interesting move. Now D2's can't even survive at the D2 level.
