I don't remember seeing this one posted, but there's so many. Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin closed last year. It had been around since 1892.

Virginia Wesleyan University of Virginia Beach, VA has moved to a new name. As of this month they are now known as Batten University, renamed after long time financial supporter Jane Batten. Their athletic teams are called the Marlins and they play in the ODAC (D3). Bob Valvano lettered in basketball, soccer and golf there.

Carolina University to Join AAC as Full Member in 2027-28 - Appalachian Athletic Conference

I've heard of Carolina University, but I didn't know they were in Winston-Salem, NC. I thought they were down by Charlotte. AAC is a pretty good NAIA conference.

It effectively becomes a Missouri conference with a few outliers. Losing Indianapolis also hurts it's reputation in football.

Nsu is on the edge of the footprint at least for football. I think it could be beneficial and it's been done before

UIndy the only 1978 charter member left and, other than Lewis (and associate members Roosevelt and Grand Valley), all those located between or close to the valley of the Ohio River and the Great Lakes have said goodbye. Saint Joseph, Ashland, Fort Wayne, Southern Indiana, KWC, Bellarmine, Northern Kentucky - all gone.

It's looks weird seeing the Sac State logo on the MAC football website. I don't think I'll ever get used to it. LOL

I am pretty sure the CAA and CAA Football are actually two distinct entities.

Oh, that's right. I forgot they were like the Missouri Valley and MVFC.

Their longest trek will be to Northwood or Lake Erie. Neither is over 6 hours. And outside of at Kentucky Wesleyan, all games will be played in the eastern time zone.

Huge get by the GMAC! Instantly raises the profile in the conference as UIndy has one of the top D2 athletic programs in the country.

Also provides a buffer if/when Lake Erie/Ohio Dominican/Ursuline close down. Technically Ursuline is not an independent school anymore but just waiting for the athletics to disappear there, despite what they say.

Other privates. No crazy long football roadtrips. Hillsdale back on the schedule, along with Ashland, Tiffin, Findlay yearly. FloSports coverage. D1 idea put to rest. Good move.
