New Rushing Record This Year?

I think regardless of your support of Harding, or lack thereof, that seeing a team achieve this record in such a machine like manner is awe inspiring. It is nice to see my alma mater reach this record. I’ve been watching Bison sports since 1976 and the past 10-15 years have been the best string of overall sport success.

Now that Harding has rushed for 389 in the semifinal against Kutztown, their total rushing yards for this season has now reached 6,697 yards. So I am repeating the same questions from the first posting of questions:

1. How many yards do you guess they will gain this week?

2. Can they reach 7,000 yards or more this season?

3. How long in years or decades before the All Collegiate Football Single Season Rushing Record, to be set by Harding this season at the conclusion of the national championship game on Saturday, is to be broken?

1/2. I think they'll get just over the amount needed to get 7,000. I expect like 7,050 or so.

3. Probably not in our lifetimes from anyone else but Harding. Wouldn't surprise me if they break their own record again in the near future, though.

With 389 yards rushing in the game last week against UTPB, Harding broke the single season rushing yards total of 6,160; which they set in 2023. They are now sitting at 6,308 rushing yards and will add more yards to that number in the game this weekend.

I have a hate/hate relationship when watching Harding. I hate watching the offense because it’s so boring and I hate what appears to be the simplicity of it. I know it’s not this simple but it appears that they have 6 plays……3 to the right and 3 to the left.

After the 3 to the right and then 3 to the left...you forgot to say - then an occasional pass down the middle to a wide open receiver because my team had to cheat up into the box in an attempt to stop the original 6 plays.

I will take a 99 yard, 10 minute drive all day over a 70 yard touch down run.

I love getting the ball with 8 minutes left in the 1st half with us getting the ball to start the 2nd half. We can score without giving the other offense get a meaningful chance to score before halftime followed by another long touchdown drive to start the 2nd half. 2 drives taking up nearly a quarter of the game with no chance for the other team to answer in between.

I'll admit to being disappointed multiple times this season when we bust a big play on the opening drive of the 2nd half and score a long touchdown run instead of eating up 6-7 more minutes of the 3rd quarter.

I have a love love relationship watching the GV offense as a fan of an opponent.

Of course, as a Harding alum and fan, I love watching Harding Bison football. Yet, I would think most fans of football would have a love/hate relationship with Harding football too.

Hate: because what Harding does is so good and it makes an opponent have to reach deep into their skill set to compete. It makes opponents have to really be confident that they have something that can at least slow down what the Bisons do.

Love: love both the simplicity of the plays and the precision by which they operate the Harding offense machine. Appreciation for being able to do what they do so well. When your team loses you know you have been beaten by the better team. No "coulda, woulda, shoulda" thinking, just pure appreciation for what occurred on the football field. On the other side of the ball the defense is a powerful force that pushes into the backfield and tracks down plays in the secondary.

Harding starts a drive from their own 1 yard line?
Bison fans -- they just expect Harding to move down the field.
Opponents -- they have reasons to be fearful in how the precision and efficiency of the Bison offense just buckles down and drives down the field and scores.

Flashly, long passes, no...just Harding doing something over and over again and doing it so well.

It certainly is a great achievement. I have a love/hate relationship when I watch Harding. I hate watching the offense because it is boring to me. I love the intricacy and technical aspects of how they run it and how good it is, so I completely respect what they do.
