Still trying to figure how metrics are used in the semi-final reseeding process. Going into the regional championship weekend Ferris’ SOS was .518, Kutztown’s was .506, Harding’s was .500. Ferris’ KPI was .324, Kutztown’s KPI was .359, Harding’s was .336. I don’t know how these metrics change after the games are played or even if “The Committee” has access to the updated KPI data. Obviously they are not using any SOS data after the playoffs start or Harding’s SOS would have soared above .500 and been better than Kutztown’s. My hunch is they all got on a Zoom call, heard each out and voted. Metrics had little or nothing to do with it. It’s okay. If you’re going to win a NC, you got to beat whoever comes next regardless of the circumstances.

I'm not sure this is true. The combined D2 record of the teams Harding beat is 27-6. The combined D2 record of the teams Kutztown beat is 24-6. Obviously there is context in those wins and the Kutztown path was much easier, but the metrics don't have that context.

Anyone know what the NCAA charges for spouses or kids of coaches to travel to these playoff games? Just curious

They charge whatever the airfare and hotels you book cost.

It seems like it's been that way for multiple seasons. I know a few teams this year that would have been favorites, if not heavy favorites, to beat teams that got into the dance. The comm. points to the numbers, but assuming the numbers are valid is a leap. Even then, there is no rule as to how the metrics are to be used. What we usually hear is "that's how they did it in the past." So using them the same way to get bad results AGAIN is the right thing to do? Sure. I'm wondering what next season will look like as I've heard that it'll come down to one number. I will forever cling to having selections based on an independent comm. (That's a challenge in its own right.) that CAN use metrics, but are allowed to adjust when, for whatever reason, the results don't make sense.

Seems like every time David Sharp (OBU’s AD) gets on a committee, Harding gets hurt in some way. He will find some way to weasel himself on it- just to spite a university and program that outshines his corrupt and backwards institution

While it’s likely that the two best teams in the country, FSU and Harding, will end up in the finals, I don’t particularly care for way they got there. The 4 Super Region concept is just another version of “Everybody gets a trophy). Can you honestly say that the best 32 teams in the country made the playoffs? How about the top 25 ranked teams at the end of the season make the playoffs and 7 at latte bids to accommodate regions or conferences not represented.

I think it’s more about who advocates for Harding at the NCAA level, and less about KPI’s. The more I look at last year when these were introduced, the seeding didn’t follow the KPI’s at all. They do not pay for spouses and kids. We have good friends whose husband and dad is a coach at Newberry. They are trying to figure out how to get to Michigan as best as they can or even IF they'll be able to go. I talked to them at the game last night.

I’m not sure what you mean by “charges” for spouses and kids. The NCAA pays the airfare (bare bones rate) for 58 players and, I think, up to 8 coaches. In addition, they pay $95/day for room and board for the players and coaches. Everything else has to be paid by the individual or the school.

Ehh.. Bisons will be fine rolling up to PA and taking care of business and getting to the NC for the matchup all of Division 2 has anticipated since week 0.

Those OOC games can be a crapshoot. Sometimes they end up having a poor season. But, I suspect silo is usually not a plus.. especially since it's not just the one team's opposition, but the conference.

And assumption wasn’t a top 25 team. Their best win is an unranked team. It’s the wildest thing.

baseball tried using stats to eliminate humans but it only increased the number of scouts. These KPIs mean nothing unless someone is interpreting them. The numbers coming out are only going to be as good as:
1.the numbers you chose to include/ exclude
2. the person interpreting the data

the fact that they just let a machine decide is why this whole thing is dumb.

im really just whining, i literally cannot be at the game no matter where It’s played. And to be fair, it was always a lot of fun to go to other stadiums and experience other parts of the country.

always wished I could have played at GV or in the Jungle at Pitt. I got NWMSU and it was awesome- other than the outcome. This should be a great game.

They are factored in to the KPI. It was updated this evening according to the link above.
