Hail to our colors
The purple and the gold
Rally for victory
We're back of you so
Fight Fight Fight
So conquer our foes
All you Mavericks brave and bold
So fight on for Minnesota State
Come on let's go, let's go!
M-A-V-E-R-I-C-K-S!
MAV-'RICKS! MAV-'RICKS!
GO STATE!
When I was a grad assistant for history one of my assignments was to look up the origin of the school song. They changed the lyrics somewhat since then. It used to be "fight on for M-A-N-K-A-T-O instead of Minnesota State. I think the student who won the award got $25.
In 1936 MSU lost a coin flip at Homecoming with Winona State as to who got purple and gold. They changed the colors to orange and navy (some say black) until 1956 when they changed them back to the original.

SMSU:
Southwest Minnesota State University's 'Let's Go Southwest'
Minnesota State:
Minnesota State University, Mankato Fight Song- "Minnesota State Rouser"

Not DII - but these are the other two schools of mine:
South Dakota State
South Dakota State University Fight Song- "Ring the Bell"
-In a bit of revisionist history, my high school actually claims SDSU's fight song as their own creation. I went down the rabbit hole and found out that it originated with Miami (OH) and U of Chicago before it got to either place.

That all being said - Colorado Mines is objectively the best in D2 (though it's basically just Georgia Tech's)
I wish I had a barrel of rum and sugar three hundred pounds,
The college bell to mix it in and a clapper to stir it ‘round.
Like every honest fellow, I take my whiskey clear,
I’m a ramblin’ wreck from Golden Tech, a helluva engineer.
A helluva, helluva, helluva, helluva, helluva engineer,
A helluva, helluva, helluva, helluva, helluva engineer,
Like every honest fellow, I take my whiskey clear,
I’m a ramblin’ wreck from Golden Tech, a helluva engineer.
Hail, hail, the gang’s all here.
What the hell do we care as long as we get our share.
Hail, hail, the gang’s all here.
M-I-N-E-S
What the hell do we care now?

This used to the fight song for IUP after a touchdown...when we were the IUP Indians and before we were blackmailed by the NCAA to change everything...
It is called Cherokee and adapted from a 1938 jazz song by Ray Noble of the same name....it was dropped when we were forced to drop Indians and become the Crimson Hawks. It didn't have words...it's just gave off the attitude that IUP is kicking your ass.
Hail IUP is a secondary fight song.....and should be the current one...but they came up with this giant turd of a "fight song" called Crimson Express..aka Crimsom Abomination
I refuse to post Crimson Abomination.

University of Indianapolis Fight Song has a nice history:
Got the story from a UIndy Greyhound Club table of 80 something-year-old alums 10-15 years ago. The song started as a 1940s UIndy Woman's Dorm Song about missing the men that were off fighting in WWII, and the table of alums said it was based on a Wisconsin Campfire song. Nice to hear since we had recognized it from the movie Meatballs years back during our student days on campus!
