I saw the name Valley Forge and being a history buff...

I had a week long class there over twenty years ago during the summer. We went to Constitution Hall, saw the Liberty Bell, went to a Phillies game. Ran up the Rocky steps on the day that Jerry Garcia died. Went on a night tour- the guide said that some people claim they can see the ghost of a Hessian looking out from a second floor window. There was a direct correlation between the number of people in the group who claimed to see it and the number of beers that they had.

You just wish they would have given a little more head's up on this. I am sure some students were scheduled to move in for their fall sports in just a few weeks.

Update:

Bentley has somewhat quietly dropped Men's and Women's Tennis. This has put NE10 Men’s Tennis in the three-year grace period for AQ with five teams.

PBC Men’s Lacrosse is entering it's second year of the AQ grace period. They have five teams and will drop to four teams next year. GSC Women's Lacrosse will enter the AQ grace period next year when they drop to five teams. Both "drop next year" is due to Flagler College moving to the SSC.

Also of note:

During football media days, the CC commissioner stated that they are actively pursuing additional Football members. They would prefer at least nine teams for long-term sustainability. The most likely adds would be from the GSC. I personally support the addition of Christopher Newport, they would be a great travel partner with Chowan.

I know they've said they want to reach 18 full members (currently at 16).

I have not found anything directly from the school stating a desire to reclassify. There has been occasional message board talk.

CNU along with Mary Washington and Salisbury got on my radar when their conference fell apart. Everyone including Frostburg State had left and those three were all that remained. There wasn't, and still not, a good option for the CAC3 so why not follow former mate Frostburg State to D2. The new C2C conference does not have a conference regular season schedule, just a conference tournament. Location-wise, CNU fits with Carolinas while UMW and SU fit with Mountain East. All three have great programs with several sports making deep postseason runs consistently. I like the idea of the three schools moving to D2 and believe they would be successful.

The C2C definitely became a hodgepodge around the time Frostburg left, but it still kinda worked because they always maintained enough members to be eligible for D3 playoff autobids. As of this year though that's no longer the case for a lot of their sports, including men's basketball, for at least the next couple years. The CAC3 have always been very strong athletically, so maybe it doesn't matter that much since they tend to have good shots at grabbing at-large bids, but I do wonder if this changes the equation for them.

I think there is more good than bad with these new rules. When you got adults playing in college sports at the age of 25+ (especially in college football) that's a big age gap. And there are some athletes that have been in school for 7+ years (and they are not doctors as Tommy Boy would say).

Southern Nazarene had a QB for 7 years. Two years were because of covid and I think he had a medical redshirt year.

The Ferris State QB that's now at Ole Miss sued and got another year. He's what 25/26 years old; it's time to get out in the real world and get a job. It's a little creepy seeing someone that age in the same locker room with 18 year olds.

Lackawanna put some information on their transition timeline on their website. They're doing the same thing as Monroe-- playing this year as a lame duck, and applying for D2 membership for 2027-28, with the goal of getting the expedited 2 year transition and becoming a full D2 member by 29-30.
