  • NAIA School Drops Football Two Months Before Season

If you think Malone's decision in Feb was late to drop their program, how about Lindenwood-Belleville announcing this week that they are dropping their football program two months before the season begins. This school plays in the very competitive MidStates Football Association with several recent NAIA national title winners like St Francis (IN), Marian Univ (IN) & St. Xavier (IL). With a newly opened week now on their football schedules, GMAC schools like ODU, Walsh, Lake Erie & Tiffin could fill in with a quality game against a team in their footprint. While these NAIA games do not could for the playoff standings, they can go a long way to help a team have an overall winning season. I'd love to see these GMAC schools fill intheir open weeks with the three schools noted above along with Lawrence Tech (MI), Siena Hts (MI) & Concordia (MI) for one season. Toss in Indiana Wesleyan & Taylor Univ (IN) and all of these schools have far superior football facilities than most of the GMAC schools and some of the GLIAC schools.

A little more context: Lindenwood-Belleville (not to be confused with the Lindenwood main campus in St. Charles, Mo., which begins play in the GLVC this season) is dropping most, if not all, of their traditional undergraduate offerings at the Belleville campus. This wasn't like Malone's decision to drop football from what I've read.

Northwood is small and Tech is a hill, but that seems hyperbole.
