[QUOTE]31.3.5 Earned Access -- Football. The Division II Football Committee shall award earned access to the NCAA Division II Football Championship to Division II football-playing conferences for which at least one member institution finishes no more than two spots lower than the super region bracket size in the final NCAA Division II football regional ranking. To be awarded earned access, the conference shall have a minimum of six active football-playing members. The earned access shall go to the conference's highest-ranked team in the final regional Top 10 poll. (Adopted: 1/12/04, Revised: 10/26/09, 1/11/12, 10/16/18)[/QUOTE}

I dunno what the GMAC needs to do to get more respect in the rankings. IMO, they're pretty clearly the second strongest conference in SR1 overall, and probably the strongest conference team-for-team. Massey has Tiffin 4th and ODU 9th. They schedule tough, and haven't been rewarded for it. Meanwhile the NE-10 is full of cupcake schedules, and they have three teams in the regional rankings. It just doesn't make sense.

Seriously, my suggestion that nobody asked for or wants is do whatever it takes to create a Super League ala the PSAC by merging with either GLIAC, MEC or GLVC. Why does D2 try to avoid what FBS decided was the best course several years ago. SR1 with a combined GMAC/MEC of 16-20 teams would almost certainly offset the clout of the PSAC and guarantee themselves 3 spots a year. These quaint historic conferences of 6-12 teams are inefficient and tend to screw each other come PO time. Just a thought.Last edited by CALUPA69; 10-26-2021, 08:39 AM.

Quite ridiculous.
The GMAC played solid OOC teams while the PSAC did not + IUP refuses to play Tiffin and gets rewarded.
Tiffin and ODU are legit top 25 teams and not listed in the regional top 10? Starting to think the voters are all from the PSAC.
NDC and Frostberg St hold on for dear life to beat Ashland and KWC in week 1, both are in the bottom middle of the GMAC and no one realizes how strong the GMAC is? The GMAC goes 2-1 against a powerful U-Indy team and no one notices?
Pretty pathetic of the uniformed voters.

The conference that gets way to much credit is Mount East. Its a bad football conference that Notre Dame has propped up over the years.
There are two problems right now in the GMAC. 1. The top 4-5 teams are pretty even. If Ashland would have beaten ND back in week 1 it wouldn't be a question, but with their QB getting hurt for the year mid way vs ODU they are just trying to hold it together right now. But any week one of those top 4 teams could win. 2. The bigger problem moving forward is a lot of these teams still play each other. Tiffin and ODU play this week, someone is going to lose that game. Tiffin then still play Findlay. The only hope for the GMAC is that whoever wins the Tiffin ODU game this week, wins the last 2 weeks and they will be in....and then probably will win region 1.

They could then schedule 7-8 division games and a mix of OOC and crossover games exactly as PSAC with one OOC and three Crossover. Or as I said do nothing and whine about being the odd league out if it isn't NE10.

The real conference that's getting too much credit is the NE-10, whose best OOC win is Bentley's big win against a middling West Chester. Stonehill has played two decent teams in New Haven and Bentley and lost to both, and yet they're ranked 9th. The love fest is bizarre.
