Here are my predictions for top 5 next season in the GMAC:
#1: Hillsdale Chargers (11-0): The Chargers return an absolutely loaded roster on both sides of the ball. You could make the claim that losing two bell cows like Carter Cushman and Ryan Strasser on the OL will make them suffer, but I'm hearing some murmurings from my inside source that the boys are juiced up and the back-up OL might actually be BETTER than the OL they played this year (an OL with two all conference selections, mind you). On the defense, they lose #12 JTLockz as the only graduate who started -> this means the mean machine boys in Union blue will be rocking the GMAC next year with Vance and #34 Penola smashing oiler and eagle skulls. Another huge piece coming back on the offense is #1 Shea Ruddy, a two-time first teamer whose only bad characteristic is the color of his hair (red....gross!).
#2: Northwood (10-1): What a season the big bad wolves had last year....I'm hearing a lot of their players are in the portal, however, I think Dusty will have the boys ready for another big year, possible even going back-to-back into the playoffs. However, I don't thing they will have enough firepower to outlast the Chargers, who return a team poised to hoist that GMAC trophy at the end of the season, so I have to put them at #2.
#3: Ashland (8-3): The Eagles are losing a lot of cornerstone pieces to their OL which helped to carry them into the second round of the playoffs where they met their best foe yet....the Bulldogs from Big Rapids. I think that the staff should be able to hit the recruiting trail pretty hard these next few months to recruit some replacements...but it'll be hard to replace Walker. Also, I believe Shimek is graduating this year....which means their defense loses 17.5 sacks that they'll have to find from somewhere else.
#4: Tiffin (7-4): Tiffin could be a dark horse for number 3 in the conference, but I had to put them 4. I think Tiffin has a really solid staff, and I think they could make a run, but they have kind of been lackluster the past few years, and with losing Blackman, their offense will be hard to fire on al cylinders. Their DL also hasn't really been the same since ol chuck Cleveland was slicing and dicing the opponent OL.
#5: Walsh (6-5): Gotta give the Cavs some love here in the 5th spot, although their out of conference games are pretty mickey mouse, which inflates their win total every year, I think the Cavs can come back next year and put together a respectable year.
