That's an apples-oranges comparison. The Commissioner's Cup is based on where a team finishes in the conference standings using only in-conference games. Learfield is based only on how a team performs in the NCAA postseason. Which one is "right"; both of them.

Both proport to crown the "best" team(s) in their sphere so it's not apples-oranges...at best it's navel oranges-clementines.

Yeah, that is a better way to say it. One is on the conference level and the other is on the national level. Both are legitimate systems that can be used to gauge the over-all success of a school's athletics programs at each level. I don't believe there's a need to compare them.
