Hope it is a great opportunity, he really hung his alma mater out to dry otherwise.

I think they need a veteran coach in there who has had previous success to stabilize the situation, build a program, and give the place some credibility.

            You're correct. Stayed inside. Interim.

No real choice at this point. Each his own but to bail in July is a pretty rough move. I assume they likely already have players hitting the portal.

Pretty much all they could do at this point.

Concerning the timing of the former HC's departure, yea, it sucks to leave sl close to the start of the season. But in the grand scheme of the "best" times to quit, there are worse. The 2021 recruting class is locked in...it's probably too late for current players to transfer...most coaching staffs are filled so the staff is probably not going to quit. So from a practicle standpoint, probably not a whole lot of effect on the 2021 team (same players, same coaches (minus the old HC), same systems).

Wesleyan seems to have trouble keeping coaches. Wonder what the problem is? Is it a money crunch again?

That or that they are in the middle of nowhere, high tuition costs, and play in a middle school stadium?

Seems like they can't keep men's and women's basketball coaches either. Turnover every two years or so.
