  • Frostburg Cuts

Frostburg has a $7.7M deficit for this present fiscal year. Their plan mentions that they're cutting athletic scholarship allocations by $885k. I'm not sure where that money is coming from - budgeted discounts like private schools or unallocated donations they gave to athletics and are now diverting to other needs.

Looks like the beginning of the walls tumbling down. Back to D3 is probably in the near future.

Its a state school. They are in a lot better position than a lot of private schools.

True. I don't think they're going belly up anytime soon, but I do wonder if this big shift in funding away from Athletics will affect their ability to stay D2 (and/or possibly move up to the PSAC).

I would agree with that. Unlike a number of private schools, they don't need athletics to keep them viable. They got a good location where there isn't a lot of competition for students in the area. I could see them investing less in athletics because that isn't the primary focus.

What happened to the Frostburg fans that were on here a couple of years ago? They were way too big for their britches but fun.

I mean truthfully this is our 5th year at division 2. Would have made playoffs in 2021 if not for the dumb probation rule.

                Your team should be fcs.

And got bumped for an Earned Access team that they'd beaten last year...

                    That's painful.

Frosty thanks for answering. A good bit of SR3 could be FCS in football with most of them being decent but not great teams. The problem is the rest of the sports and facilities don't translate to the next level.
