My son was just told by the head coach this morning that since he has too many classes, and is an RA there's no need for him to continue playing for West Liberty. He had approved the schedule with the last staff, and was an RA because they refused to give him any money because they knew WL was the only school with his major, so he couldn't go anywhere else. Good luck with the new staff, I can finally go back to rooting for Frostburg now.

First, good on your son for being a football player doing normal student things like being an RA and studying what he wants. Athletes anymore very rarely do student things beyond their sport. Most of my dad's college fraternity were football players (he wasn't) but other than some Divine 9 family traditions, its pretty rare that you see a football player doing normal student extracurricular things like being an RA, having a job, or even studying something challenging. Very few study education anymore because student teaching is viewed as a detriment to spring football.
I took a look at West Liberty's programs and I didn't see anything that is unique to West Liberty.

Zoo Science and Comic Studies seems pretty unique.
Bryce Perkins has signed as an Offensive Assistant for the Toppers. Perkins comes from Gettysburg College where he served oa the OL Coach, running game coordinator and ran recruting for Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, NC and California. Before Gettysburg, Perkins was the OL and TE coach at Gannon before that. He played and won honors as a Center at Cal.

So you're saying WLU should start a new Clown College? In all seriousness, when I click on Comic Studies it takes me to a page with it not listed. Is it an Art History type of thing? Zoo Science sounds a lot like wildlife biology or zoology but with a couple classes on working within the zoo industry. The fascinating part is that its in West Liberty, WV. Sure, there are some animals on display at Oglebay but that's an odd place to study for a very specific line of work.

What I read was that Comic Studies was intended to prepare recipients to work in the comic book industry...soooo...part art (manual and computer), part printing (technical) and part writing (story content). I'm not defending the industry or the major, but the comic book genre has spread to be much larger than the Punisher and Superman comics back in the day.
WL needs to start looking at the possibility of replacing the women's basketball coach. Current staff is not getting the job done. They used to be a power in the conference. Don't let it get completely out of hand like the football program.

Jucqui Taylor, Special Team Coordinator/Defensive Assistant. Taylor was previously served as the Cornerbacks Coach at Cal and also had a hand in Special Teams. Played collegiately at Slippery Rock and at Bethany before that.
Phil Hamilton (Already Announced), Offensive Coordinator. Hamilton has 15 years of coaching experience and was the OC and Recruiting Coordinator at Waynesburg State immediately prior to signing with the Toppers. Several collegiate stops including as the OC at Clarion. His stomping grounds appear to be South and West PA and Northern MD. I would imagine he as a pretty extensive recruiting network in those areas.
