They can't take WVWC Football to D3 just because Football hasn't had any winning seasons or standout professional football players recently. The Athletic programm over all is making it same as Shepherd in competition. WVWC already has monuments for NFL before I have played football for College

      How's NCAA probation going?

They need a complete staff overhaul. They have the players to compete with, as we've seen in the Robert Morris, Frostburg, and Charleston games. They had the wrong QB at the start of the season, the players didn't even unstand what they were seeing in him, and have had some very questionable play calls all year.

Do you guys think Monteroso wants the job? Been there 20 seasons according to his Bio. Do any of the other coaches on staff have aspirations to be the head coach there?

This will be an interesting hire. Is the funding still there to make the job appealing in terms of available scholarship equivalencies? I wouldn't say WL is a sleeping giant, but its been inexcusable for them to be as bad they've been for so long. There is a lot to like about this job, and I don't see any reason why the right hire wouldn't be able to have WL competing as a top 3 conference member year over year.

Congrats to all who celebrate. It was a good run when it was good.

If I were AD, I would call Kevin Kelley, currently coaching at sheridan hs in Arkansas, or the current coach at pulaski Academy in little Rock, who runs the same style.
they are unconventional just like wlu bball, with similar success.

Pulaski has < 500 students but are forced to compete in 7A against 3000 students, because of their dominance in lower divisions.

Monteroso and Roger are one in the same, if he gets it it will be the same as Roger never leaving. What a sick joke that would be.

I would imagine the current HC will argue for Monteroso's elevation. And given how things have rolled out the last 15 years, do you really think the leadership is going to "waste" time or effort to do a real search,?

They need a frame off rebuild. There are a couple of good coaches but sadly for them, the rot is so deep and systemic that you can't just slap some bondo and a coat of paint on it.

I have to agree. Unfortunately sometimes you need to full restart. That's going to be hard because good coaches and players will leave, but it is what it is.

I would imagine he wants it but I don't think it is warranted.

Least we forget that even WAY back in the good WLU days when we were scoring 60+ points on a regular basis, the D was giving up 50. And the D has never really gotten any better over the last 15 years.

I don't know about the ability to pay that would make the job appealing to top tier candidates. I would assume it's competitive for the DII level. Probably not going to entice any fired D1 coaches!!

Given how bad things have gotten, I am of the opinion that we swing for the fences. Look for a young up and commer or an out of the box guy who is looking for a place to "prove" his innovative football theories. What we don't need is an old retread with a long resume but no real accomplishments.

Let's clean house, everything and all coaches must go...Okay, maybe we keep some good players because I believe we do have some salvable parts, lol. I might even go to my first West Lib football game in over 4 years now on Saturday.
