  • 2025 WV State Football

I saw we landed some transfers from the portal. The most intriguing is Charleston Southern (FCS) quarterback transfer Kaleb Jackson. He seems to have some talent. He passed for 218 yards on 22 of 32 completion rate against Florida State in Tallahassee last season.

    Schedule has been released:

AT Carson Newman and AT West Florida are losses. Barton at home is a real key OOC game. We have shown to be able to beat the bottom feeders of the MEC. We do well with the middle of the conference. Pennington has done a nice job here. Can we take another step up?

Ending the season with a quadruple whammy of UWF-Glenville-Frostburg-Charleston is rough. I think that's what did you guys in last year too: I remember the Jackets were flying pretty high, and I think they even got some votes in some of the D2 polls midway through the season before crashing and burning near the end. Hopefully drawing Glenville, Charleston, and Fairmont at home this time will help, and you guys can build some momentum in the first half of the season again to help you finish strong this time around. I think 7 or 8 wins is achievable.

WV State always seems to be a team that is poised for a breakout season, but then just doesn't. They are good and always a tough out but just can't get over the hump. Maybe this season will be the one where they reach their potential.

Guess he transferred because Lek Powell is the starter…

              WV State 28 Barton 14

State moves to 1-1 and needed this win after last week. Only over 1000 at the game.

              Good run game.

Too many leaks in the secondary that will need to get fixed real fast.

9 penalties for 85 yards has to be cleaned up. That is too many in game two.

Good things and bad things. I will always take the win.

Final: West Virginia State 45 WV Wesleyan 16

It took awhile to feel comfortable with this one. Not great play to start out coming off the bye week. But Wesleyan is so bad that talent took over.

Homecoming in Institute next week. Surprised to see Fairmont State lose at home today to Wheeling. We will get the Falcons best shot next week regardless of today's outcome. We will have to play better next week than we did to today to secure a home victory.

Man, it felt like the late '80s and early '90s in Institute today. I haven't seen offense like that since that time period when Coach Clifton Moore brought in a boat load of talent.

Great homecoming weekend at WV State! It was an all-time year in contributions and giving from alumni. A couple of million dollar gifts in the past month for the school.

Final: WV State 60 Fairmont State 39 & it wasn't even as close as the final score. It was 60-25 under 10 minutes in the 4th quarter. Fairmont punched one in with 30 seconds left.

WV State had over 300+ yards rushing. Amare Ary had 189 receiving yards and had a Sportscenter one-handed grab.

Great feeling. A little slow start and still too many penalties that will cost us a close game. But man, we took it to Fairmont today. WV State moves to 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in the MEC.

Trap door game next week at West Liberty!!!

I thought the Falcons would put up a better fight. Man, was I wrong. That's some team you've got there at WV State. Kudos!

WV Wesleyan got 9 votes. Now that's funny. LOL

You could see it coming. We used a lot of emotion against Fairmont State.

I take nothing away from West Liberty. They gave out a game plan for the rest of the conference on how to beat our defense. They deserve the credit for the win.

There is still no excuse to be up two scores and moving the ball well to give this one away. Bad mistakes by the offense to not take control of this when up 27-14 and turn the ball over.

This was a real typical WV State loss. Next one is important. The season can either turn up for the better or go south with another loss.

Definitely a tough loss. Next week will be the battle of two high powered offenses. I hope our defense can figure things out so we can win this one.

Well that was a disaster of a trip. Season seems over. Not much to salvage unless we could somehow beat UC which would make up for some of the bad losses this season....losing at home to Wheeling and losing to West Liberty.

Basketball around the corner. It looks like we signed around 10 JUCOs. Hopefully we can at some point get back to the NCAAs. It seems like an awfully long drought since we had a NCAA bid.
