The Summer is quickly coming to a close and football season is right around the corner, and for D2 fans in New York and New England, that means the NE10 is back in business. Assumption is back to defend their conference championship with Marc Monks and Deonte Harris and are looking to repeat and go deep in the playoffs again with new coach Andy McKenzie. The rest of the NE10 is looking to dethrone Assumption and go to the playoffs themselves. It may also be the last season with a 10-team NE10 if Franklin Pierce follows through on their announcement earlier this year and joins the NE10's football schools in 2019.
For the NE10 Pick'Em, the rules are simple:
1. Have your picks in by the first kickoff of the week.
2. You only need to pick the winners, no point spreads or picking points unless otherwise noted.
We will do the NE10 Pick'Em through the regular season and the playoffs and have a regular season winner and a playoff winner. I'll do the scoring and post updates every week of the season.
So now onto Week 1's games:
Thursday, August 30:
1. West Chester (PSAC) at Bentley, 6:00 PM - West Chester blew out Bentley last year before Bentley put together a strong NE10 season.
2. Southern CT State at Gannon (PSAC), 6:00 PM - Gannon won big last season and the Owls are looking to capitalize on a strong finish to the 2017 season. This is the fifth straight year the teams have met and SCSU has lost the previous four.
3. Pace at Millersville (PSAC), 7:00 PM - Pace has their best season in recent memory last season, and it started with a win against Millersville. Millersville is looking for a fast start under new coach JC Morgan.
Friday, August 31:
1. Fairmont State (MEC) at Stonehill, 6:00 PM - A new out-of-conference opponent for Stonehill after six years and a 2-4 record against Bloomsburg.
Saturday, September 1:
1. Kutztown (PSAC) at Assumption, 1:00 PM - Assumption is looking for their fourth straight win over Kutztown.
2. Merrimack at Bloomsburg (PSAC), 2:00 PM - Looks like Bloomsburg didn't want to play Stonehill anymore, now they'll try their chances against Merrimack.
3. New Haven at Bryant (Division 1, Northeast Conference), 3:00 PM - New Haven tries to do what Merrimack came so close to doing last season and beat Division 1 and former NE10 member Bryant.
NE10 members not playing this week are LIU-Post, American International, and St. Anselm. LIU-Post will play their out-of-conference game at Shippensburg on October 6, while AIC and St. Anselm do not have an out-of-conference game this season and will play the 9 NE10 conference games.
Good luck!
