  • NE10 Week 7 Pick'Em

Week 6 in the NE10 saw two games go down to the wire, and one school sitting near the top with a chance to win its first-ever league championship. Right now three teams sit at the top of the NE10 with a legitimate chance to win the league title:

    1. Stonehill (4-1, 3-0) - Completely control their own destiny to win the league title. This means that they get to face Bentley this week, Assumption on 10/26, Southern CT State on 11/2, Pace on 11/9, and New Haven on 11/16. They get through it, they will be champs.
    2. Pace (4-2, 3-1) - Own the nead-to-head tiebreaker with Assumption and have already played preseason league favorite New Haven. Still face Bentley, AIC, Stonehill, and Southern CT State.
    3. Assumption (4-2, 3-1) - A tough loss to Pace drops the Greyhounds in the standings, but they are far from out. They face AIC this neek, Stonehill and New Haven in the upcoming weeks, and finish up with St. Anselm.

Everyone else except for Franklin Pierce has two league losses - a lot would have to happen for any of these squads to be anything but spoilers.

And now the recap from last week:
    1. Pace over Assumption 35-32 - Assumption came back from the dead to take a late lead, but Carlton Aiken wins it at the end for Pace. Is it the biggest win in Pace history?
    2. Stonehill over Franklin Pierce 52-0 - Stonehill did their jobs and now move on to the next game.
    3. Southern CT State over Bentley 31-17 - Jackson Ostrowsky could be a star in the making, Southern's offense has hit a new gear with him leading it.
    4. St. Anselm over New Haven 37-31 - Hawks win with an Eric Fairweather touchdown run with 34 seconds left and hold off a furious New Haven drive at the end to win. While Southern CT State is excited about their new quarterback, New Haven is wondering what they have at the position. Right now, it wasn't good enough to beat St. Anselm, who has (believe it or not) beaten New Haven three times in eleven games. If Assumption is New Haven's Kryptonite, then what is St. Anselm?

The NE10 Pick'Em has three (inclduing last year's champ budman) leading at 22 correct and several close behind.

And the standings for the NE10 Pick'Em are:

For Week 7 the NE10 is in league play with four games, all on Saturday, October 19. Pace has the week off and will await Bentley next week.

    Saturday, Oct. 12:
    1. Assumption (4-2, 3-1) at AIC (2-3, 1-2), 11:00 AM - Greyhounds need to win to stay near the top. Yellow Jackets can almost knock Assumption out with a win.
    2. St. Anselm (1-5, 1-2) at Franklin Pierce (0-5, 0-4), 12:00 PM - The first battle of New Hampshire. Hawks trying to get a winning streak and the Ravens still looking for their first win over a D2 opponent.
    3. Bentley (1-2, 2-4) at Stonehill (3-1, 4-1), 1:00 PM - Bentley has been so close to having 3 or 4 wins, and business picks up for the league-leading Skyhawks.
    4. New Haven (3-3, 2-2) at Southern CT State (2-4, 2-2), 2:30 PM - The 31st Battle for the Elm City Trophy, and it has both teams going in opposite directions. New Haven is going one step forward and two steps back, while Southern CT State has won two in a row. New Haven has won the last 10 meetings, but recent weeks suggest the Owls have a great chance to win. New Haven holds a 23-6-1 series lead.

Your picks are due at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Oct. 19 - Good luck!
