I am not aware of such a rule. Good chance UNH agora to Kutz, Tiff at NDC and Shep at IUP

Slim chance that UNH could get in without at least winning the NE-10.

Crazy rumor circulating that Assumption had a group of players walk off the team this week - anyone else hear this? Pretty far fetched to be believed - but that St Anselm score is a real head scratcher . . .

Not nearly close enough to know about that, but something happened at ST A around midseason. First 5 games 0-5 averaging 15 ppg. Last 6 games 4-2 averaging 38 ppg. If they can keep that combo, whatever it is, together next year, the HAWKS could be a problem.

Couldn't tell you. The players that mattered looked like they were all on the field, but St. Anselm still put up over 700 yards of offense.

Pretty sure St. Anselm was the only NE10 team to beat both New Haven and Assumption this season.

No playoffs for the NE10, so the season is now over.

2010 was the last time the NE10 lost out on the playoffs, when New Haven won a three-way tiebreaker for the league championship but lost their last game to St. Anselm to finish 8-2 and out of the playoffs.

With the offseason comes the question of how can the NE10 improve its playoff standing. There were exciting games every week and a decent amount of upsets, but there was too much parity and since the isn't as deep as (especially) the PSAC, there wasn't a dominant team to make the playoffs. Consider that New Haven, who finished with the best overall record at 7-3 and won the most games against NE10 teams (7), but one of those games didn't count in the standings and the loss to Bentley cost them the tiebreaker. 3 losses won't cut it when you have 5 strong teams in the PSAC.

                  1. Win D2 non-conference games. The NE10 lost to five schools that are in the playoffs. If New Haven had beaten IUP, they'd be in.
                  2. Play more D2 non-conference games. Only St Anselm played 11 games against D2 opponents and Franklin Pierce was the only other school to play 11 games. Increasing the number of games increases the chances for wins.
                  3. Add another team to the conference. Sure Franklin Pierce was awful this year, but they gave everybody else in the conference a win.

From what I understand the committee puts a lot of status into a championship game. PSAC is almost guaranteed 2 spots by virtue of their STATE GAME. It's a bit difficult to do with 9 schools but 12 could do it.

Where did you get that understanding? It's not so much a championship game per se, but the ramifications of it - two teams with very good records will both get a boost in SOS.

I did not hear anything about a walkout. I know there was talk about issues with players and coaches last week before the New Haven game, but I think it was mostly one player, a starter for most of the year, that had problems. I watched him walk off the field without going to his post game huddle on Saturday.

It has been a difficult transition to the new coaching staff beginning last season, a 180 in style and scheme. They had a great group of upperclassmen, no punks, maybe too nice. But there weren't any starters missing vs St A's. They were unable to cover, tackle or block good enough on Saturday or for the most part of the last two years.

PS. Watch out for JC King the back from St. A's. Looks like another Wes Hills in the making.

The NE10 was 1-8 in the opening weekend. That will never get you in the playoff discussion. If Bentley beat WC or New Haven defeated IUP, we are having a different discussion today.

Stonehill was the only team to win out of conference against D2 competition and that team just fired their head coach. To make the playoffs, you need to win out of your conference. Every team in the past for the NE10 that made the playoffs did it.

With the odd number of teams, it is tough to schedule right now because of the bye weeks through the season. Most teams are struggling to find games after Week 1 because of conference games. The league filled the gap with Week 2 as OOC against NE10 teams and that will probably happen again next year.

They need to find a 10th team for the league. Losing Post and Merrimack rarely happens like that but it hurt the league for 2019. If someone can run the table next year, they will be in the playoffs.
