    It's official, I guess...Pincince is out:

    https://www.ctinsider.com/sports/art...d-20323169.php

Really need to know how this went down...on the surface, it's a very bad look to lose your top winning football coach who made the playoffs the last 4 years. A very bad look for a program for whom stability was a big part of their success. A very bad look for a program for whom those with ties to the program make it a point to come back to the program.

Would like a statement from somebody...the AD, president, anybody? Too much silence would indicate to me that lawyers might be involved, and as we know, "billable hours" is almost as undefeated as the Grim Reaper. Quite concerned about what seems to be a significant lack of transparency.

    (saw their statement…typical boilerplate stuff)

I tell you what - this better not be how D1 life is going to look like.

FootballScoop ran an article on it as well. Interesting quote here, although I'm not sure how much it relates to Pincince's departure:

Sources told FootballScoop on Monday that internally within the football program there had been a desire to play a reduced schedule in the fall in order to "preserve redshirts" for players as New Haven transitioned from D-2 to FCS.

        Thanks for the information.

The discussions could have possibly been a factor if Pincince was against whatever was being discussed, but who knows.

The Hartford Courant mentioned that Pincince was let go from the position, but didn't state why (guessing that's not going to come out for a while, if ever).

All I’ll say is good luck finding someone to average 7.5 wins over 10 years once the D1 transition is complete.

There's a press release in the University of New Haven website related about Pincince departure. The Interesting thing is Powell is the interim head coach until the end of the 2025 football season when a nationwide seach for a permanent head coach will happen. According to a source that I've heard, the 2025 football season has only 4 to 6 games scheduled. I don't know if there will be any NE10 teams are in the schedule, but all the players that are transferring out of New Haven currently said one of the reasons was because due to scheduling uncertainties for the upcoming season.

I don't want to trash anyone, but the sudden change is yet another sh*tty late move by the NEC. Taking D1 envious teams this late for immediate full membership is BS. Its not fair to the players and fans, but New Haven is really going to bear the brunt of this move. The coaching change only makes it worse.

New Haven's schedule has been taken down from their website.
The few NE-10 schools that have posted their schedules have removed New Haven from those postings. Slippery Rock has already replaced them. Just WHO is New Haven going to play in this shortened season?

I guess one of the remaining NE-10 teams is going to walk into an automatic post-season berth.

I gave it a lot of thoughts and here's what I think of the situation, personal opinions obviously, in this forum we can all agree that this is a bad timing and even to a bad conference to integrate into as far as football is concerned, and maybe some other sports. However, the university wouldn't have done it if it doesn't benefit the current and future of the university as a whole. Many other universities have jumped to the NEC before and than have moved to a better conferences after, which I am hoping that this is the case. As a football fan, do I like this move? The answer is not really. Time will tell, but this is where we're heading.

I did some trash talked about Stonehill did to the NE10 conference a few years back and now I am eating my own words with New Haven is doing the exact same thing. Good for them to removed New Haven from their schedules. Like I said, I have heard from a few sources that New Haven is only playing between 4 and 6 games this year and lots of players are transferring out and coaches are leaving also. So far this year, we lost a head coach, offensive coordinator, a defensive coordinator and some other coaches. Sad year for football at the university.

Guessing VA-Lynchburg and Lincoln (CA) would be more than happy to play them. Woo hoo!

Personally hoping Bentley finally gets the stability they haven't had recently and grabs that playoff spot.

Couldn't agree with you more. The NEC has done this multiple times already and every time I thought it was awfully unprofessional of them. Couldn't do this in December or January, eh? Had to make Pincince go out there and announce next season's schedule, and then pull the rug out from under him less than a month later?

I hate that my school has now been thrown into that mess. On top of that, the NEC didn't even guarantee that their football teams could play us right away the way they did with the other schools, leaving them to basically not have a real season (or as close to a real season as you can have in transition) this year. I know St Francis is moving to D3 and that makes it tough, but the NEC could have told them to go away and slotted us in their spot (or maybe they couldn't, I don't know).

The NEC and New Haven really should have known better, especially after New Haven did what I thought was a really smart plan to play the long game with the move. Guess with the 4-year transition, they couldn't wait any more time to make the jump.

Like I said the other day, good luck finding a coach who can get you from 7 to 10 wins each season over a decade with a bunch of playoff appearances, especially at the lowest levels of D1. The coaching tree for New Haven football goes back to the mid-80s with Chris Palmer, and I would be willing to bet a lot of former players are upset about what happened with the coach getting let go like this. I want to trust that administration is doing this for the betterment of the university, but it looks really bad right now and they need to work quite hard to get it going right again.

This is the 3rd or 4th team the NEC has done this with. The NE10 and PSAC should file a grievance with the NCAA.

Sounds like a number of quality players and coaches looking for new homes. Hope it works out for all of them.

On the surface, it looks like the university screwed some young men and some valued coaches for the bigger picture.

Bentley lost a lot of guys. The turmoil of the last few seasons may finally catch up with them.

Interesting to see Franklin Pierce step into the week #1 opening with Slippery Rock.

Its a good matchup. Rock has lost a lot so its a good tune up with a lot of new starters.

So, when was the last time New Haven fired a football coach? The 80s? I honestly don’t know.
