Point spreads are a part of football. What's the point of putting, for example, IUP at Millersville on the board when all 50 entrants pick the same result.

Shut up, clown. Don't be THAT guy... everyone loves the Pick Em and I for one and soooo happy IUPbigINDIANS runs it. He does a great job each year! How about you calm down and actually enjoy ESU potentially being relevant for the first time in like 15 years. Although, just cuz you annoy me, I hope they fall apart and this season is yet another dumpster fire.

Why all of the unwarranted hostility? Take a knee, and cool down. IUPbigIndians is doing us all a service with this annual series of events. This is intended to be fun. Don't ruin it for everyone else.

I think there is an unwritten rule that says never criticize the person running the game. The reason: He is running the game and you're not. Having said that and considering ESU beat DI Wagner in the opener and they are playing lowly SHU I can see how that could be a game requiring a point spread, especially with ESU's traditionally high-powered offense. That's probably why Warrior Voice reacted.

Personally, I like the more complex format. It is more challenging although sometimes I have asked myself whether I need one more challenge in my life. But I also think that if the goal is to increase and maintain participation throughout the season the added complexity probably doesn't do that. I think you see more separation between the participants earlier in the season which could cause some people to drop off. Just sayin'. My vote is just keep it the same as you're doing it.

Calm down. The spreads are more than fair and make the game more interesting than picking everything straight. You taking it as a personal slight is just silly. I appreciate the hard work that goes into this and the extra work that goes into setting the spreads, and I think it makes for much more of an interesting contest than just having straight PSAC games.

    Picks:

IUP (-24.5) at Millersville - I liked what I saw from 'Ville, but I feel like IUP pulls away here.
West Chester at Gannon - Tough game for WCU last week, but I'm not ready to pivot from them.
Bloomsburg at Edinboro - Bloom's gotta figure it out quickly.
Shepherd at Mercyhurst - Mercyhurst keeps playing to its opponents. Rams will definitely want to avoid an 0-2 start.
Lock Haven (+10.5) at Clarion - I bet LHU looked way better than they are against Lincoln.
East Stroudsburg at Seton Hill - Have to keep the good vibes going here. The early schedule is easy so the wins need to build up now.
Shippensburg (+13.5) at Slippery Rock - With all of the returning talent, the amount Ship struggled shocked me. Rock scored at will against Wayne State and should do the same this week.
Hillsdale at Indianapolis - If Indy ever actually joins the GMAC, it's a big addition to SR1.
Pitt (+17.5) at Penn State - I know I should pick Pitt here. It'll be close at the half but Penn State will pull away.

    (2) Kutztown at California - I was impressed by Kutztown last week. This seems like the sort of game Cal will be in position to win and find a way to lose.

(Bonus) This PSAC team will score the FEWEST points in Week 2: Bloomsburg

IUP (-24.5) at Millersville - Hawks should get to fine tune some things this week.

West Chester at Gannon - Neither offense looked real hot. Knights drop the boom and bring the thunder, ... but also the game.

Bloomsburg at Edinboro - Huskies appear to be a mess.

Shepherd at Mercyhurst - The Lakers had to be just looking ahead last week, right? They'll put up a better fight this weekend.

Lock Haven (+10.5) at Clarion - Lots of buzz on these Golden Eagles all the sudden.

East Stroudsburg at Seton Hill - Griffins may be historically bad this season.

Shippensburg (+13.5) at Slippery Rock - Ship's offense will need to score at least 50 to win this game. Rock can likely run the victory formation correctly this time around.

Hillsdale at Indianapolis - Tough call.

Pitt (+17.5) at Penn State - Pitt typically plays its best when the whole world expects them to get killed.

    Two-Point Game of the Week

Kutztownat California - Major jump in competition for the Vulcans, but Cal is tough to beat in Adamson.

Not quite how point spreads work there big guy. What's funny is I get lots of private messages from people saying they like the spreads and they think it makes it more fun/challenging. You realize they are used to even things up. People routinely pick the games with spreads wrong on here. Nearly everybody bombed on Mercyhurst last week and a ton missed the ESU game. That's gambling. Show me one spread on there that you feel is embarrassing somebody? The IUP spread I put up this week is probably actually too low and I'll bet that more than 90% of players this week take IUP and give the points. I'd also bet nearly the whole board will take SRU and give the 13.5 after Ship's showing against Clarion. The Pitt/PSU line is straight from Vegas. I gave Edinboro a fat number last week and half the pickers took Grand Valley to cover (and lost).

Hurt feelings over point spreads in a free pick 'em game. Seen it all now.
