    • Theres a lot of politics involved with the football program. It is toxic and it's also why kids in the community don't play. Basically board members want to be the ones to say they are the reason for the turn around and have their hands in it all. But they've been the reason the program sucks. They need to give head coach full control and let it be.

It's incredibly embarrassing for the school. Cowardly. What is it teaching kids? When the going gets tough ... get the hell outta town.

They are getting blasted on social media.

Well ... if you run away scared from 6A and assemble your own schedule ... you best win. Quickly.

        • This might have worked better in the old 4 classification model. They could have played some AAA schools in D10. Problem is that Western PA is full of smaller high schools. A whole lot of current 2A and 3A schools.

          • Only Nine 6A schools in the WPIAL with Butler being one of them but there are 33 in just District 1 alone.

The amount of A's doesn't matter now. They can play anybody who will play them. Maybe they can schedule Leechburg, Marion Center and Saltsburg.

The Heritage Conference needs a new member.

              • Won't give them more scholarship dollars so this will have to do.

A decade ago New Castle and maybe Sharon would have been good lower level opponents but they're both hemorrhaging students.

WPIAL has a tremendous number of teams in the small classifications with declining enrollments out there. In District we have 16 6A teams and 28 5A with hardly any teams in the 2A and 1A category for football.

                      • Surprised nobody has mentioned that Curt Cignetti has led James Madison to the FCS Championship.

Unfortunately I don't think they'll win the big game I believe they will compete but fall short against NDSU.

I did make mention of it a few weeks ago when JMU advanced to the title game and then was at once accosted by the posting police. LOL.
