  • D2 spring athletes granted extra year of eligibility

NCAA grants extra year of eligibility to spring athletes for D2, same thing will probably happen in Division 1. Basketball is considered a winter sport.

This is fair just as if they had been injured. Challenge will be finding the extra scholarship money.

Good point. Baseball, Softball, T&F, Tennis. How many of these athletes will trade another year of eligibility for staying at their current school another year?

Also, if you can figure out who will be back in subsequent years then those athletes get the $$ and you don't have to recruit somebody in their place because the athlete taking the extra year id still there.

There will be no jobs for graduates, so they might as well come back to school. Plus there aren't many scholarships available for these sports anyway.
