Brutal. I commented a couple weeks ago about their tough remaining schedule and that they could lose to anybody left on it. Now they could realistically lose to everybody left on it.

Brutal is right ... cannot lose that one at home.

It was fun while it lasted. Same Old Pitt unfortunately finally showed up.

I’m shocked the Centre County Community College didn’t fall flat again after losing to The Overrated State University…

The Cignetti Mafia is now ranked #5.

That's their annual choke job. They're also due for their annual upset, so who knows what the hell happens when Clemson comes to town.

                      • A good reason to recruit great athletes, Iowa is now using a 5th string QB. He was a scout team linebacker just a couple weeks ago.

                        • Been on a work trip and unable to get on here, so just catching up. Brutal loss for Pitt. When they started 7-0, it was totally reasonable to still believe they were going to drop 2, maybe 3 games, with their schedule. SMU is really, really good. Louisville is too. Clemson is not what they have been, but still have top end talent. No problem or shame losing any of those 3.

You can't lose that game to UVA and get to where you think you can get when you start 7-0. And I'm not talking about the CFP at all. Just talking about getting to 10 wins, a major bowl, etc. Hard to reach those goals when you drop a game to a bad team.

I'll say this, and maybe a few days removed, people can objectively look at things...

I see the chatter here and on social media about "Same Old Pitt" (not talking about you IUPBigIndians, just speaking in generalities). I get it, but everybody here knows that it's hard to win games every week. It really is. And everybody knows that Pitt isn't the type of program that can just walk on field every week and beat every team they are perceived to be better than. To think you'll never lose to Virginia, or somebody like them, it's just not fair to expect that. Saturday night was brutal. Hurt me as a fan. It was the lowest I've been in a long time as a Pitt faithful (lower than at any point last year). They had a ton to play for, but the reality is that they just aren't an elite, or even great team. Sometimes you lose games that you shouldn't. Iowa State was everybody's darling. They just got boat raced by a 2-win Kansas team on a neutral field. This stuff happens.

                          • Quite the lineup in the Yinzerlands this weekend.

WVU at Pitt (men's hoops) - Friday

Clemson at Pitt (football) - Saturday

                            Ravens at Steelers - Sunday

Regarding the Pitt/Clemson game, it has come out Pitt will be starting its backup QB as the starter is injured.

At this point, given how their running game has dominated at times this season, why even bother with a quarterback? Then again, "QB5" is probably the most Banana Beak Football thing ever.

As I've said before, I was expecting Pitt-SMU to be a lot closer than it was. But, then again, Kenny Pickett isn't walking back into that QB room in Oakland.

Virginia has been playing better compared to the last few seasons. The Cavs are one win away from being bowl eligible, so they're not horrible, but you're not going to confuse them with Clemson or Louisville. That said, losing to UVA at home is not a good look for Pitt.

To be (somewhat) fair to Kansas, five of their six losses have been by seven points or less (the outlier being an 11 point "home" loss at Arrowhead to TCU), which makes for a disappointing season in Lawrence compared to the last two seasons. The only other FBS team that feels as snake-bitten as Kansas would have to be California (Comma) Berkeley, whose four losses - all in ACC games - were by five points (Florida Man State), one (Miami-ish), two (Fail to Pitt) and one (North Carolina State).
