I think it’s in Penn State’s best interest to not make the BIG championship game. Take the extra week off and keep the high seed while Oregon and Ohio State battle it out again. With the 12 team playoff, I wouldn’t mind seeing conference championship games go away. I know that will never happen but it could be a real disadvantage to play in those games, win or lose.

The teams who make the playoff without playing a conference championship game will have three weeks off. The teams who win their conference championship and get a bye will have 3.5 weeks off. In either case you’re pushing the line between rested and rusty. I agree with you. Eliminate conference championship games and at least have everyone’s season end at the same time. You also eliminate any possibility of two teams potentially playing each other 3 times. Imagine going through this whole thing only to end up with Oregon-Ohio State 3 or Georgia-Texas 3. I’ll pass.

The possibility of three meetings is one reason an 18-team single-division league makes little sense. With the massive conference realignments, it's more possible to set up competitive divisions within the conference.

Well, he choked that one. Their play-calling was ridiculous. They got the ball at the Michigan 15 after an interception and with three of the best wide receivers in the country called a run up the middle, a throwback to the tight end, and another run. Then their FG kicker misses a chip shot. I would have taken Michigan with that spread all day. OSU has three o-linemen injured and can't run the ball against top-flight defenses.
