Yeah, to lose that was one thing, not unexpected at all. But to have all the hype and then not be competitive from the jump was disappointing. Nard Dawg did try to warn us with the weird I don’t care if we lose by 100 comment.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post

So who the heck is going to claim the group of 5 spot in the CFP? South Florida was anointed after their season opening win over Boise but they keep stubbing their toe. At this point it looks like it’ll come down to either the AAC champ, provided it’s Navy, North Texas or Tulane and if not one of those it could be James Madison if they finish off the Sun Belt. The best wins among those teams are Tulane’s wins over Duke and Northwestern. I have a feeling you’re going to hear a lot of noise about the G5 not deserving a guaranteed bid, I mean more than we already do anyway.

Before women's basketball went to the NCAA in the '70s, women's teams from small colleges often were as good or better than the larger schools. When I was at Ship in the '60s and we were still playing six women on a side, Ship beat both Maryland and Penn State. And if you recall tiny Immaculata College outside Philadelphia won the first couple of contested AIAW national titles. One of their chief rivals at the time was West Chester. Of course once the NCAA and more money started coming into the equation, the big schools took over. It is much more of an accomplishment for a D2 or D3 school to beat a D1 now.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post
IUP beat Pitt in women's basketball 5-6 years ago (exhibition).

That's the same pattern happening now with Women's Wrestling. The first programs were at small schools, including some in Canada. Also including Gannon and ESU in Pennsylvania. Now the Big 10 and Big 12 schools are starting programs and they will start to dominate.Originally posted by Ship69 View Post
