It feels gross to say this about any SEC team, but I’d really like to see Vanderbilt make the playoff.

And that might have been UJoisey's best chance to ever beat State Penn. And, naturally, UJoisey blows it. This is why we can never have nice things in life...Originally posted by iupgroundhog View PostIn the Bowl Eligibility Bowl, Penn State catches some breaks and prevails over Rutgers 40-36. Big shocker in the FCS playoffs:
Yale 43, Youngstown State 42 after Yale rallies from a 28 point halftime deficit against one of the better known FCS programs of my generation (well, except in some parts of Pittsburgh, especially Oakland). The Yalies reward: a trip to Bozeman to take on #2 seed Montana State.
Well, it was fun while it lasted...
Meanwhile, all four Dakota schools and both Montana schools are still in the bracket.Last edited by ctrabs74; 11-29-2025, 08:06 PM.Cal U (Pa.) Class of 2014

I don’t think either team would enjoy that and all the distractions that go with it. Also, neither team is very good. I think it’s a lot more fun if they’re both good teams but they’re not. Penn State did win their last three, but Pitt, I don’t even know what to say. They get blown out by Notre Dame, then go down and blow out Georgia Tech who could have clinched a trip to the ACC championship, and then come home and get blown out again by Miami. Granted Notre Dame and Miami are really good teams but so is Georgia Tech. I planned my day around watching the game yesterday and it was over early in the 3rd quarter. Losing in that spot is acceptable but not being competitive is confusing.Originally posted by IUPNation View Post
Now schedule them vs Fail2Pitt in a bowl..that would be funny.

Yesterday my son asked me which team was better (Pitt or Penn State) and I honestly couldn't decide. I agree - could be a good game.Originally posted by Chuck Norris View PostIf Penn State finishes Rutgers off and salvages a bowl bid out of this season, allow me to be the first to clamor for somebody to match them up with Pitt. I think it could be a really good game.

It would make the game mean something for each fan base....and it might get a crowd.Originally posted by EyeoftheHawk View Post

The Georgia Tech result suggests Pitt should be better, as Penn State beat absolutely nobody who was any good. But they did battle Indiana as hard as anyone. And I think the name Penn State gets way into Narduzzi’s head even if Franklin is gone. It would be a fascinating matchup as long as both teams don’t have a bunch of guys opt out. It makes so much sense so of course there’s zero chance it’ll happen.Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View Post

My preferred computer ratings systems are basically split with Pitt looking slightly better. I don’t know how much the regular season matters for the downstream bowls considering how many guys will likely sit out either to protect their bodies before the draft or to eventually hit the portal.Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View Post
