  • That was horrendous. That Pitt team had zero interest in being there. Been watching some of these games this week and it’s so glaring how uninterested these P4 teams are playing in these bowl games against some of the G5 teams (who are all super motivated in these bowls).

Minnesota looked putrid against New Mexico. Louisville barely squeaked by Toledo. Cal lost to Hawaii.

I hate what the CFP did to the bowl season. Regardless of where or who you played, playing and winning an extra game used to matter.

Terry Smith's allegiance/loyalty/devotion to Penn State is inspiring. It seems as though that it what is being lost in college football today. It used to mean everything.

That must have been quite the crew Clemson had out there as Penn State played that game without four of their five starting o-linemen, both their top running backs, and with several guys missing on defense.

Too bad so many of the team didn't have the same devotion. You can understand some of the guys who are top stars drafting out, but some of the ones who didn't play were hardly surefire NFL prospects. As has been discussed, if they're going to be paying players to play, there should be a contract that this doesn't just mean the games of the player's choice.

It wasn’t a well played game on offense and the field was poor as players kept slipping and falling…must not have had it covered well during the snow.

I think I had read that Clemson had 27 opt outs and that number was expected to grow. I don’t know what the final tally was for them, but it was a skeleton crew.

That crap show should have had free admission.

They don't need to be surefire draft picks.

They don't want to get hurt prior to entering the Portal.

                        Double whammy.

The crowds at these low-level bowls have been hilarious.

The North Texas QB played. He's about to get paid serious cash.

Some of these bowls might draw enough TV viewership in world of cable and stream to stick around, but the days of the Podunk Garbage Bowl drawing substantial crowds to a game are probably over. Who wants to pay high ticket prices and travel costs to see two mediocre teams that won't even match their usual level of mediocrity in the bowl because half their team has opted out of the game? Yeah, win one for ol' State U. LOL.

The Nits game had a pretty good crowd.

Not often a northern team is in a bowl that's only a couple of hours drive away for many of its fans. I considered going to the Pinstripe when Northwestern played Pitt there a few years ago.

The Joebot mothership is maybe 75% Philly, NJ, DMV, and Long Island. In the right group you'd think you're at Rutgers or Syracuse.
