Sell?? What, so the greedy land owning education oligarchs can make more billions on the backs of the peasant professors??!! NY needs to confiscate it and turn it into free housing for the temporarily otherwise housed. The cafeteria would make a great soup kitchen and you can turn the student union into a state run grocery store. You can probably fit at least 8 to a room!

What is their rationale for this? Is it supposed to be some kind of constituent service or something? The legislature's schtick of complaining about PASSHE tuitions while doing their level best to divert money to the "state-related" and private crowd grows very tiresome.

Other than the annual PennVet appropriation, all of these were through the RACP program to provide matching grants to spur development. I disagree with state tax dollars going to private entities, especially when they compete with state agencies and programs.

It's not just small businesses though. Giant Eagle got money to redo a warehouse. The Philadelphia Eagles got $4 million through the program to redo the locker rooms at their practice facility. Neither need that money. But they got it!

I could maybe see the logic for supporting a few of these on the grounds that they might help the Commonwealth as a whole long term, but everything related to student life or athletic facilities is a big ol’ thumb in the eye to the PASSHE schools. Exactly. I'm not fully up on the requirements of the RACP program beyond the matching funds. And a lot of this is basically Harrisburg pork. Hopefully at the very least they're required to use PA contractors.

Another big one - North Allegheny, my alma mater and possibly the wealthiest school district in the Pittsburgh metro, got $1.25 million to renovate the pool at their grades 11 & 12 building. A swimming pool. At a high school in a school district flush with cash. Over 55,000 residents, 8,000 students, and a $211 million annual budget.

listen to them that they have been left economically behind and need to be understood so they vote for a 80 year old fat ass in clown makeup who makes their lives worse but in off election years the pittance in taxes they actually pay somehow prop up an entire city with a diverse economy that has a multi billion dollar budget. It’s amazing.

I’m sure if Dollar General Stacy wins..she won’t…but if it gets rigged for her…she’ll turn Mansfield into a Data Center.

Agreed. But this is a thread where those of us who went to PSAC schools that are part of the PASSHE system have found it useful to discuss some of the issues facing our schools. I get a little triggered when those who aren't PASSHE people decide to drop political bombs on our thread. I don't go on threads outside ours to talk crap. Personally, I will try more to restrain in the future. We live in difficult times.
