This might be a "wait of it" thing, but I've seen no indication of that yet.

I will be shocked to see enough schools play winter and spring sports at the D2 and D3 levels to host championships at the NCAA level. Schools will be facing a huge mess of state health department directives, testing directives from the NCAA, and other things which will drastically increase costs for athletics, while at the same time limiting the revenue coming into the athletic departments.

Let's not forget this won't be a 1 year issue either. There will be a ripple effect felt over the next 5 or 6 years from the COVID-19 issues. Why? College scholarships and playing time issues for players. The expected to graduate players may stick around for another year, meaning incoming freshman in the future classes may face a different environment at the school than previous incoming freshman classes faced. Then there is the costs to the programs both from an expenses standpoint and loss of revenue standpoint.

You also face the issue of schools completely shutting down athletic teams as a cost savings measure. It has happened at many major universities as well, along with numerous small school programs getting cut.

Interesting choice of words, considering the number of games which have been postponed or played with substantially less than a full allotment of players due to COVID-19 issues.

Suspending all sports saves good money on travel, operations, etc. There are still unanswered questions on eligibility for winter and spring. My concern is whether this means staff will be furloughed. The SID can only write so many fluff pieces, camps are cancelled, etc.

Sorry - that should read things *aren't* getting much better in Philly metro.

Wait, what? What D2 conferences are playing? I was under the impression that all D2 conferences had called off the football season.

Look under scores ... you can see who is playing in D2.

There aren't a ton of teams but some.

Pretty sure all conferences have shut down but maybe a dozen schools in very remote locations are playing independent schedules.

Do those dozen schools then forfeit the added eligibility that schools who couldn't/didn't play were apparently granted ?
