I think the buzz changes based on who interviews that day. They can’t interview Shula and Sheelhaase in person until after the game this weekend. I seriously doubt they’re hiring anybody until that happens.

Correct. It's the only story worth filling a radio show up with these days. Pitt basketball is awful. Nobody cares about Duquesne. The Penguins have a small following compared to the Yinzers. There isn't much happening with the Pirates.

I switched channels this week in the morning ... couldn't take the constant 'this is who they should hire' ramblings any longer.

I still listen to Big Sexy on the way home.

I have to admit I’m pretty engrossed in it all. It’s the third Steelers coaching change of my lifetime. It’s a pretty big deal.

The morning and drive home shows on The Fan have actually grown on me quite a bit. The morning show in particular is so much better since the big host shakeup.

I believe Anthony Weaver interviewed yesterday. We’ll see how big his bandwagon grows.

Brian Baldinger has put it out there that the Steelers are very interested in Mario Cristobal. He’s not a reporter, per se, but is a long time tv personality who would likely have some connections to people in the know. Or he’s full of it.

Seriously, how can you not love this stuff? It’s often just as, if not more, entertaining than the games.

This reminds me of the hiring circus the Pirates had when they hired Clint Hurdle. They'd interview someone and people would be somewhere between intrigued and excited. Then that person would get hired elsewhere. Rinse. Repeat. I'm honestly surprised that the media isn't as invested in this search as much as they've been in the past for some college jobs.

It’s McCarthy. Art II just went with the 62 year old twice recycled head coach with an offensive background. Can’t get much further from the Steeler way of hiring a head coach. Interesting move.

Scheelhaase was reportedly the first candidate they asked permission to interview. Shula was widely believed to be the favorite for the job. And they couldn’t wait a few more days to meet with those guys in person because they were blown away by…..Mike McCarthy? It’s puzzling. Unless they really soured on both or both really soured on them it doesn’t make much sense to me. No one was swooping in to grab McCarthy away from them.
