An IUP v West Florida game would be great. I'm sure Ship has an agreement for return game for West Virginia State for 2022. Otherwise I'd love for our program to test itself out the gate against a top D2 program.

Be careful what you wish for ... LOL.

West Florida probably isn't signing in to a home/home unless it's with a marquee opponent. They have the clout now to pretty much just take home non-conference games (if they can find one). None of our teams have near the budget to take a game down there. Being they also defeated an FCS team this year in Week 1, those games may be hard to find, too.

It's not easy finding non-conference games once you reach the top of the mountain. Seems WF and Ferris are on this list searching for Week 1 on a now-yearly basis.

In the old days, IUP routinely played these monster non-conference games with teams from across the country. Those days (and budgets) are long gone.

I think most of all the willingness to play a tough first week opponent is long gone.

WF may have a harder time now getting an FCS money game with their upset this year along with many FCS teams either playing FBS programs in their OOC schedules or they're moving up to FBS. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see WF in 5 years or so move up to FCS, idk how they'd work out their stadium arrangements as FCS conferences aren't going to be keen on having a baseball stadium hosting football lol. You're right Ship probably doesn't have the funds to go to WF without the Argonauts funding the traveling costs. For all that might as well play an FCS team for a payday like Ship did back in 2007 when Liberty was an FCS program and we got like 35k to play down there. That money helped fund the new turf that was laid down 3 years later. If only we could get night lights installed like every other PSAC school lol

IUP has some wiggle room on who they schedule Week 1 with a middle of the road SOS the first two crossovers next year.,We avoid going from the gauntlet this year to bottom feeder hell.

I'm not sure if Shepherd has a game scheduled for next season yet, but that Charleston game is appealing to me.

Really? A Florida trip might be fun, but let's get more competitive with Shepherd before we decided to take on West Florida.

IUP has fancy new lights and uses them for every sport except football.

Yeah. Cal gets the luxury next Fall of opening at Kutztown and at Shepherd.

Two years ago Ship got Slippery Rock, Cal, a West Chester team that was 14th-ranked when Ship played them, Shepherd, Kutztown, and IUP, Since Cal can't play itself, I think that might top their 2022 adventure, That's life in the big city.

Though we never know until the schedules are posted, is it fair to assume if two teams played last year they'll play again this year?
