I don't have any pics but I was at the big date in The Field House. I'll tell you a story. A couple people might appreciate it. When this happened, I was a student employee in the University Relations Department, later called External Relations, I think. Essentially the IUP PR department.

The person in charge was Ron Thomas, a longtime IUP administrator, later a Student Affairs professor, and IUPBigIndians all-time favorite college administrator.

Anyway, he called a meeting during the morning in a meeting room on the 4th floor of Sutton. He came in and was so demoralized. He told us that IUP had gotten some national press today. On the front page of USA Today it said IUP had the ugliest men of any college in the country. I mean, this guy was dejected. It was his job to present the image of IUP to the rest of the world. You would have thought the school was shutting down if you listened to him.

Ironically, with the help of the downtown bars who put on Ugly Man and Ugly Bartender contests, it took on a life of its own. This went on for like 2 months.

It was a national story and it was fun. It got special attention in the Philadelphia area because WPVI weatherman Dave Roberts' daughter was an IUP student. So, it was a recurring theme on ABC Channel 6 (the most popular newscast in the market). They had great fun with it. So, what Dr. Thomas thought was a PR disaster initially, turned out to be the greatest unpaid advertising for IUP of all time.

Believe it or not, this was a huge national story. In fact, Lisa Birnbach sold a lot of her College Preppy Handbook because of the attention.

The 'mental part' I was referring to was similar to the 2018 season finale when the team clearly quit and got blasted at home by Shippensburg. That's the type of performance I'm hoping we don't see tomorrow. That was the most disinterested team I've ever seen in person.

Maybe a bunch of players will be trying hard to raise their stock to get some good looks in the portal after the season is over ? Tough though with so many Seniors

I don't know how much the mental part affects the defense. I think we'll see the D take out their frustrations on Gannon. As for the offense, they still have pride to play for.
