SRU's weakness (pass defense) played directly in to Cal's strength.
Vulcans are definitely favored next week. But, Tort's teams always play their best when they are perceived as the dog. It wouldn't shock me if IUP goes down there and wins. Tort's teams are so F'd up mentally that you never know which version you'll get.
If you just watched the second half of SRU's games with Boro, IUP, and Cal you would expect that "The Rock" would have a losing record. IUP's Jekyll and Hyde act we know all too well. Bloomsburg, Ship, WCU, Ville, SHU, Clarion, you never know what you're going to get.

If Kutztown doesn’t easily win the title it will be shocking.
Why the polls had Slimey ranked higher than the Fighting Amish was baffling.

Cal’s loss to Charleston early in the year suddenly doesn’t look so bad. They have to be licking their chops heading into this weekend when they can basically wrap up a trip to the State Game while ending IUP’s season in the process.

IUP was extremely lucky it was just 13-0 at halftime.
They had some awful misfortune (the roughing the punter, etc). The WRs dropped at least 5 balls in the first half. Karst would have thrown in to quadruple coverage if it existed. SH got some crazy calls in the first half. Combine it all with the expected (normal) IUP slow start ... it was a perfect storm.
I'll give Karst a lot of credit. He was completely lost in the first half. He did a total turnaround at halftime. The crowd was yelling for Nico. People were screaming up at Larry Wilson. Once Karst realizes he doesn't have to throw every ball to Massey good things suddenly start happening. SH had two dudes on Massey all day. Karst still kept throwing to him. Nobody could cover Ridley one on one. And, don't get me started on the way they ignore having two stud TEs. I was the happiest guy in there to see Laney get that TD to start the scoring.
Younger (you know the forgotten RB they moved to defense) ... he was a warrior today. In many ways he saved their season for another week.
Aside really from one play (long run) I thought the defense played fantastic. The offense did everything it could to screw them in the first half and they hung in there.
It was a gutsy comeback. That place was dead at halftime.
For being a Catholic school SH may be the dirtiest talking team I've ever seen in person. Lol. Goodness. Earplugs. They talked a little too much and it backfired. They finally woke up the bear.
