We know West Chester has two two titles, how has other Pee Sack programs fared in Cary? We never really know about it other than when West Chester won.

Edit: Millersville was the runner up in 2016 and get this…MANSFIELD was runner up in 1992.

Angelo State is the defending national champion. They started this years World Series as the No. 8 seed.

IUP has to beat them today and tomorrow in order to reach Saturday.

Tall task, for sure. But, this is a pretty resiliant team.

Don't forget, however, when the name initially changed the senior class voted for it to become The Fighting Squirrels (as a homage to the Oak Grove). That was ultimately (thankfully) overridden.

I don’t know, I think Fighting Squirrels would’ve been kind of awesome. Like you said, it actually tied in to something at the school, it wasn’t just silly for the sake of being silly. It would certainly have gotten attention.

I agree kind of like how a lot of minor league baseball teams have changed to rather silly names.

I was at an event earlier this summer that had a raffle basket sponsored by some office at IUP. It included a squirrel stuffed animal that at least I understood.

The Richmond VA minor league team is the Fighting Squirrels. So is Mary Baldwin University, also in Virginia.

I actually like the rationale behind the Crimson Hawk and the native American significance of the Red Hawk, even if it is a little contrived. Anyway, it's Crimson Hawks and they aren't changing it.

Can't watch every pitch this morning but IUP is now up 4-2 after 2 and a half.

The IUP bats are on fire today. Two bombs, several laser shots, and now an 8-3 lead over the defending national champs. This team seems to believe more and more with each game.

Even with 8 runs I don’t know that it will be enough. They’re giving up runs in every inning and Angelo State has figured out they can run on the IUP catcher with relative ease. This could be a 10-9 kind of game.
