Now, with the idiots on the current Supreme Court expanding the power of the presidency even more, we might be entering truly uncharted and dangerous territory after November. It's a sad choice this year and a terrible commentary on our major political parties, both of which have failed for different reasons. That said, I'll write in my dog before I vote for Trump.

I have always followed Joe Biden and my politics are virtually a replica of his but right now he needs to be replaced because of his age and condition. However, the bigger takeaway from last Thursday is that Donald Trump can never become President of the United States. That is true regardless of whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent, Green, or Purple Polkadotted.

3. People of this country will have much more disposable income.
4. There will be no more weaponization of the DOJ to go after one's political opponent.
5.Inflation will go down immediately.

7.Gas prices will drop immediately to where they were pre Biden.
8. We will stop paying for oil from our adversaries.

Hate to piss on your Wheaties partner but, you might want to book a one way flight out of the country because come November, there will be a new sheriff in town. And...
1. We will get our border back.
I live 2 miles from the border and the immigration issues do not affect my life at all. How does it affect your life? The problem there is that everybody wants to come to America. Like always.
2. Criminals will be put behind bars to serve their just punishment.
"Criminals" will become a subjective term. Today in the news Liz Cheyney is the criminal for speaking her mind. Next year, it could be you.
3. People of this country will have much more disposable income.
Really? How so? Trump's stated policies will throw the country and the world into economic turmoil.
4. There will be no more weaponization of the DOJ to go after one's political opponent.
Really? See Trump's comments about his own political opponents this morning.
5.Inflation will go down immediately.
We already know that his trade policies will lead to rampant inflation.
6.Our military and police force will be respected and supported once again.
Our military and police will be one and the same.
7.Gas prices will drop immediately to where they were pre Biden.
You would have to explain that one to me.
8. We will stop paying for oil from our adversaries.
Our friends will be our adversaries and our adversaries will be our friends.
9.People will once again be able to purchase a home
Probably not with Trump's economic plans.
10. BTY I am an independent..
Who cares? You are the problem.

Sounds like a great script for a comedy.

2. LOL as if this isn't happening. POTUS can't control state AGs and local DAs.
3. LOL this won't change. I have more disposable income now than during 45.
4. LOL right. The only change should be a repeal of the Patriot Act, which MAGAs only support if it means spying on immigrants.
5. LOL yeah right. Small thinkers can't comprehend that inflation is international. USA's inflation is near the lowest in the world.
6. LOL yeah right - and I believe in conscription. Problem with police respect is that those needing qualified immunity fall in line with MAGA.
7. LOL. The only people who think gas prices are tied to the president are small minded MAGA. If they do drop immediately, you know that we've been gouged.
8. LOL we have NEVER been energy independent in the age of oil. And good luck. Google the top crude oil producing countries and you'll twitch.
9. LOL the president ordering the Fed to lower interest rates will only worsen inflation.
10. I'm an independent and center-left. Independent is just an affiliation status, not a political position.
I want someone other than Biden, but a vegetative Biden is better than a lucid Trump. The debate should be in 90 seconds or less, explain the following:
1. How a bill becomes a law.
2. The difference between Medicare and Medicaid.
3. The purpose of Social Security and Welfare.
4. Explain one legislative action that would return industry and semi-skilled jobs to domestic communities.
5. Why anyone old enough to collect Social Security should be permitted to hold the most critical position in the world.
We need to elect presidents that understand how the government works. I don't believe Trump could pass a citizenship test. Upcycling luxury real estate and licensing one's last name is not business savvy. Someone who has never spent a day outside the highest tax bracket doesn't understand how to shape policy benefitting the 99%.

He is already talking of more tariffs, which will increase inflation, not lower it.
Neither Biden, Trump, or any president controls oil prices. They are a product of market forces, international politics, and manipulation by huge multinational companies. Gas prices are lower this July 4 in most areas of the country than they were last year. So since you seem to think Biden caused them to go up, I assume he made them go down as well? Adjusted for inflation, gas prices reached a much higher level under George W. Bush than they are now. So that was all Bush's fault?
The United States ia a net exporter of oil products and has been producing at record levels in recent years. We produce enough to supply this country, but that oil will go to whomever pays the highest price for it. It is an international market. We will continue to buy oil from other sources to make up the difference. As far as buying from adversaries I'm sure we'll keep buying from Saudi Arabia, the friendly folks who helped bring you 9/11. Trump is big buddies with the Saudi family, who lent Jared Kushner $2 billion to help him out of a bad business position.
We need to control our border. We also need some level of immigration to supply workers for some of the jobs that kids born in the U.S. seem unwilling or unable to do. Good luck getting your average suburban kid to do construction work or pick fruits and vegetables. Immigration will not be solved until both parties agree to quit using it as a political football.
Home prices will go down when builders start constructing practical houses that young families can afford. I haven't seen a builder construct a one-story ranch house in my area in years. It's too profitable to build mini-mansions so retirees from D.C. can buy large houses in our lower-cost market. When smaller houses do become available, real estate speculators snatch them up and rent them back to people at high prices. Property prices in many areas will continue to soar because millions of people want to live in the same areas of big cities or within 20 miles of the shore, often in areas threatened by severe weather events and flooding. And NIMBY folks, both liberal and conservative, set up zoning laws that prevent construction of duplex and multifamily homes in many areas. The president ain't gonna change that.
Your most questionable assertion is that there will be no weaponization of the DOJ. Republicans in Congress right now have launched an unprecedented impeachment blitz at Biden officials, and Trump himself has made perfectly clear that he intends to take revenge on his opponents when he takes office. His supporters have a plan in place to do away with civil service and appoint thousands of political flunkies to government positions. Does anyone actually pay attention to what Trump says. It isn't just "Trump being Trump."
H.L. Mencken once said, "Democracy is the theory that the common people deserve to get what they want — and get it good and hard."
I'm an old white guy whose investments have actually done better in the past four years, so I'll likely be fine whatever the outcome in November. I can't control whether others want to take a piss on the future of their children and grandchildren. It's a free country — so far.

Its all where you get your info and how much you think critically before believing. Like Ship69, my investment accounts have done very well. Removing the obvious Covid dropoff that everyone worldwide experienced, they did just fine under Trump. The economy is just fine. Not perfect but fine. We're still strong and attractive enough to attract thousands every month looking for a new lease on life. My life wasn't ruined under Trump like some people wanted me to believe. Much like Biden hasn't ruined the lives of those who don't support him. Far too many people making far too much money convincing us that the sky is falling. Perspective is everything.
