He goes 6-5 again and most of his donors won't call him back, either.

Not to nitpick but he can't go 6-5 since there are only 10 games.

      • Tort picked third in the West behind SRU and Cal.

        Perfect

          That’s just completely unacceptable.

Means absolutely nothing. I wonder what HC picked IUP #1.that is kind of interesting.

They have some burners but very little size beyond Ridley. With two already lost for the season I wonder if this is a spot they are still shopping.
Yes Mesa transfer arrived in July and is a freak, we shall see…Was a high Portal guy with plenty of suitors.

Good. So I wasn't losing my mind. What's his name again? I recall he had a ton of offers.

I'll take a Tort team picked third all day long. His hyped teams have had some issues.

Ha, well played by him. I would have done the same thing.

This is SRU’s division and I see two programs going in opposite directions. As an IUP fan it hurts to say it but setting fandom aside that’s what I see. That beat down IUP got up there last season wasn’t a fluke. While I don’t think the gap is as big as the score was in that game, it’s still a pretty big one. We won’t know a ton until the ball is kicked off but on paper it appears to me SRU got stronger and IUP mostly stayed the same.

I do think IUP can finish second and possibly snag a playoff spot. I don’t expect Cal to be better than IUP.

Things change. IUP beat the hell out of them up there the trip prior (48-21). Don't forget IUP has won 2 of the past 3 in the series. So, it's not like it's some yearly thing.

Tort's team for whatever reason played scared up there last year. They started slow (shocker) and then the curb-stomp was well on. Make no mistake, SRU had a better team. Obviously.

I'll give you an example of how teams change.

When IUP beat the crap out of SRU up there in 2021, IUP embraced the giant crowd. They were taunting the crowd back during warm-ups and had an epic field entrance where the team stopped on the track, turned around and taunted the SRU student section. Fast forward to the debacle last year (the young team as we've heard 100 times) and IUP looked like lost puppies up there from warm-ups on. I could tell while they were warming up that IUP was going to not only lose but get hammered.

Point is so much now changes from year to year. Last season is over. You could be right, but I'm not ready to anoint any team just yet. IUP had every possible thing -- on and off the field -- go wrong last year. Perhaps that 'luck' finds another team this year.

But it is at IUP this year and IUP's homecoming, and it is possible that both teams could have 1 loss on their record when they play.

I don’t disagree with anything you wrote and sat in the bleachers right along with you and saw those things happen. It just feels a little different as of late. Maybe I’m still shell shocked over the timeout debacle last year and lost all hope. By the way, Tort said this in today’s Gazette article about being picked 3rd: “We have a lot of experience, but we have to play better and finish games,” Tortorella said. “Hopefully we learned our lesson from last year, especially late in games.” I hope one of those lessons would be the importance of knowing how many timeouts you have.

Keenan Brown. Hopefully, we get used to hearing his name.

I was told last night there are 5-6 players not listed on the roster -- for whatever reason. It could be admissions, etc.

So, hang tight. Things are going to look a little different here shortly.
