Today is the day for the Saturday roster. Tort said (veteran) players need to practice at least once this week to play Saturday.
I fully expect IUP to have a rough, perhaps sluggish first half. Third straight road game in addition to coming off a tough, physical game. All the ingredients of a typical hangover week.
Millersville has been tied at halftime in each of its games (7-7 vs Clarion and 6-6 vs Frostburg State). The Marauders then got beat up in each second half. This is usually an indication they lack quality depth.
One thing to keep in mind is they played much better - overall - against Frostburg State in Week 2 than they did against Clarion. They've also had two weeks to prepare for IUP. Truth be told, they played pretty decent against Frostburg State (a perceived playoff contender). The score was just 12-6 entering the final quarter.
Certainly IUP is a heavy favorite. I'm just not sure it will be the romp many seem to think -- especially if they have 8-10 guys in street clothes.

Some people go because it’s rare to see a president (love them or hate them), some to see the spectacle, etc. To be honest, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere close. I was stuck in traffic for a long time and his motorcade passed me when he was heading to the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh a few years back. Made sure to give him the one finger salute but that was, if for nothing else, due to messing up my commute (everyone is entitled to their opinion one way or the other as I could care less who anyone votes for).
Two more important things:
1. If you’re around Indiana make sure to stop off at the Hilton Garden Inn near the KCAC. I had a nice meal, some great bourbon, and decent service. Looking forward to coming back soon. The manager recommended some neat bourbon, we talked about IUP/sports, and overall had a great time. Will continue to suggest people stop on in.
2. Hoping to see some better football from IUP. A ton of talent out, but it’s good to see some younger folks get experience. I’m not overly concerned with Millersville but we need to start gearing up for Slippery Rock and CalU. At the end of the day those are the games we circle on the calendar.

They need him.
It has unfortunately become a very bad tradition at IUP to have a whole room of banged up (or dismissed) RBs before the calendar even hits October. Every summer there are so many and not enough balls to go around ... and, well, this happens.
Ironically, the RB they shipped to the defense is the one who bailed them out. J.D. Younger had a pretty solid first two games. Monaco, however, brings more of the home run threat. It's unfortunate Adam Houser is always hurt. Randy Washington 'should' be back soon, too, although it feels like we've been waiting for him forever.
I'm getting the vibe Tort would like to redshirt the two true freshmen RBs but if anything else happens he's going to be forced to play them.
Tort said in the Gazette today he's never had a season start like this (mass injuries) in his 30-some years of coaching.
This team has depth. That's why they are 2-0. We haven't seen them even remotely close to full strength yet (what's left of full strength, anyway).

IUP is deep but some of that depth lacks experience. The reality is that IUP is having a rare season when they experience some of the challenges that are much more regular for others. But again, their depth & inexperience is very talented compared to others. Its not like they have Bo Napoleon waiting in the wings.

Tort has hit some home runs in high school recruiting the past couple years. They have some really strong young players on this team. One of those young defensive players has missed the first two games. He's going to make an immediate splash.
Most importantly, his retention has been very high. This is largely a home-grown roster.
