We are now back to the 'slow start' syndrome. Then, because IUP has superior player personnel, they fight back. only to be outsmarted by the opposing team's coaching staff in the final seconds of the game. As an outsider, it makes CULATER look like some kind of genius, but maybe he was just saying what we all feared.

The similarity of the game-winning TD passes for SRU and Edinboro is also noteworthy. It might not have been the exact same play that Boro used but, like in the SRU game, the opposition ended up with a guy wide open in the back of the same corner of the endzone. Uncanny, isn't it?
I was saying this on this board about 4 years ago iupgroundhog . The problem is the out-dated stale coaching staff, that believe they can just roll out the football and beat teams because their players are more talented than the other teams. This is not the 1980s or 1990s.

I’m not so sure IUP’s personnel is as superior as some believe. Yes, typically more scholarships than the opponent but not necessarily better. I’m considering the entire player from physical ability to intelligence and resilience. IUP held them to three consecutive three and outs before the final drive when they let Boro march down the field and win it. It’s in their heads now.

Ha…I think you’re right. And to think, we thought rock bottom was losing to Seton Hill last year. Looks like we’ve found more room to dig.

Congrats on the win. That had to be a great afternoon for Edinboro on a beautiful day.

            Good luck

That's not going to be a real enthused team come Monday. This could go off the rails (more than it already has).

Seton Hill gave Cal a real test today. IUP probably favored by a FG next week.
They could easily lose to Seton Hill. And cal. And even others. But there’s a chance they could win both in close games. Like IUPAlum says, like Tomlin tort wins just enough. Now 2 or more additional losses this season you might be able to convince him to retire. But if they get lucky, win out, maybe lose a close one in their first playoff, there’s no way the staff changes. Losing one more close one to Cal ? Well, that’s 7-3, and lots of programs would love to be 7-3, blah blah blah. But I agree the game and all the new rules has passed them by.

I didn't do anything to deserve congratulations, but it's a good win.

I know it sounds like such a homer thing to say and I keep saying it, but Edinboro isn't a bad team. They got jobbed at the end of the Bloomsburg game and took Slippery Rock to the limit. Nulph is a great coach and a strong recruiter. His liability is the glass ceiling for fundraising at Edinboro, although he's been able make a new locker room and turf happen. Regardless, Nulph is 2-2 versus IUP.

It's in their heads??? WTF are you taking about?
It's the dumbass coaching of Tort and Jim Smith putting them in a prevent defense and allowing the opponent to go the length of the field with zero adversity! F-in coaches went three consecutive 3 and outs then switch to that garbage??? horrid coaching two weeks in a row.

To be fair, that game winning TD doesn't happen without the pass interference that put Edinboro on the 13. It wasn't just blatant, he effing threw the receiver to the ground. Maybe that and the post-game scuffle can be blamed on the coaches, but IUP had this in the game.

The late game first down before looked weird on the broadcast. The line judge closest to the ball looked like he spotted the ball almost a yard further than the one next to the sticks, so I trust his call more. The targeting call on IUP was BS. Looked like a hard shoulder hit.

Boro had a really interesting schedule to start the year. Hard to tell exactly where they are at. They played ESU and SRU tough but weren't competitive with Kutz and have a bad loss against Bloom. solid wins at RMU and IUP. The balance of their schedule are all winnable games on paper. Not out of the question that they could run the table and things start to look really good for Nulph but i honestly don't see that happening. My guess is they win 2-3 more games and end up at that 4-7 to 5-6 range.

                    • Went back and watched the end of the game and you can see an IUP assistant getting into a shouting match with some older Edinboro folks, most likely the 1960s football alumni they honored. If I saw that correctly, Tort and his team deserve whatever is coming to them. IUP for decades has shown the same arrogance that Gannon once tried.

Honestly I can't believe this hasn't been brought up until now. The issues with the IUP coaching stuff are well documented in my mind. You know what you are getting (or not getting) with that group. Where I would draw the line and clean house tomorrow is what happened after the game. IUP trying to fight everyone in the stadium after a bad loss is completely unacceptable. Bunch of fake tough guys that just got pushed around on the field trying to turn it into a street fight is a very clear indication of the lack of discipline and leadership within the program. It's an embarrassment, no other way to say it. And honestly for a fan base that has done nothing but take jabs at Gannon the last few years for similar antics you should be ashamed of what took place but not one comment. interesting to say the least.

So I guess we found our next coach.

I trust my own eyes more. It was a yard short of a first down. And, yes, the targeting call was bogus from what I could see. Granted, it was a point of view that was about 2 football fields away. IUP lost a key player in the secondary on that one.

So they weren’t mouthing off? It takes two to tango. It’s not like every other school doesn’t get nasty with IUP.

                              Just sayin…

LOL just posted similar. IUP faithful should watch that part of the broadcast. The one I watched is probably some doofus grad assistant but still a punk. It's always the lowest level and youngest tenured coaches who think they're hot **** for making $12,000 as a part time assistant.
