  • While it was nice to see a Pee Sack team put a scare into a Region 3 team..it was a total nightmare for IUP if Slimey wins the first NC by a Pee Sack team.

That privilege should only be reserved for IUP since the IUP Rule knee capped us when we were actual National contenders.

    It just won’t happen until
we get a better coaching staff…

Today was either a reason for optimism that the region can be more competitive or the one shot where everything aligned and SR1 had the chance to take down a heavyweight. I hope it’s the former, but I don’t know. Ferris left the door so wide open and it still didn’t happen. I don’t see a chance like this happening often.

It's hard to figure. I've watched SRU play in several games this year and I watched FSU play last week. SRU played so much better than they have all season and FSU did not look like the same team as last week, at least for 2.5 quarters.

Well, there’s a lot of talk on the IUP Football thread about Slippery Rock still playing so that’s bad enough, LOL. That run certainly isn’t going to hurt recruiting. It’s nice to be talking to a kid about how close you were to playing for a national championship as opposed to how close you were to just making the playoffs. Good for them. They peaked at the right time and they were right there with a chance to win it against a team that Vegas would have probably had at -30.

The 2017 run didn’t translate in sustained success. In fact I think we regressed.

              • Nobody has mentioned former IUP player Fowler playing for Ferris.

SRU played brilliantly. The game plan was tremendous. The worst thing that ended up happening to them was driving the ball inside the red zone. With the field condensed, Ferris had less space to cover and couldn’t be tortured by the deep ball.

He was booted out of here after serious charges. That was the end of his story here.

The 2022 team won the PSAC and and made it to the SR1 championship for a rematch with Shepherd so we can’t forget them. Shepherd was a great team that year with Bagent still at QB so no shame in losing in that spot. IUP also had an elite QB in Mak Sexton and a more well-rounded running game then. They’ve had neither the last two seasons, and there are numerous reasons for that, which is an entire topic in itself.

Based on results the last two seasons, particularly considering head-to-head matchups with Slippery Rock and Cal, it’s a fair argument to suggest IUP has fallen behind.

I can't agree with the fallen behind.

They lost to SRU by (1) point and lost at Cal on the biggest fluke play you'll ever see.

Tort was literally (3) plays away from being undefeated.

Yes, that and a dime gives you 10 cents. But, IUP was just as good as Cal and SRU this year. At the very least, they were extremely close. The top of the West was very good this year.

Bad luck, granted, follows this staff around. That's a different discussion.

IUP was just as good as Cal and SRU this year? I don’t remember either of them losing to Edinboro.

They measure success by wins and losses. IUP is 0-4 against those two teams over the last two seasons. It doesn’t really matter how. I don’t disagree at all that those games could have easily had a different outcome, but they didn’t.

They haven't fallen behind. Fallen behind would look a lot different.

They lost to Seton Hill and Gannon last year. Edinboro this year. Perhaps we have different definitions of “falling behind.”

We already established that. At least I didn't pick the Steelers.
