Tort was real close this year. He had his annual no-show game. Get used to that one.

The program that has fallen off a cliff is across the parking lot. Joe's driven a Ferrari off a mountain.

The two biggest attractions will go a combined four seasons (and counting) without a national playoff appearance once basketball season ends. That’s tough when we’re not used to that here and admittedly, we’re a spoiled fanbase. The larger concern is how long this goes on and can IUP get back to the top in this new world of the portal and NIL? The programs that maneuver through that environment best will thrive. Rock seems to be doing that well in football and Gannon obviously hit a home run in basketball last year. So far so good for Craig and the women’s basketball team he put together. They have eight new faces on the roster and they almost all contribute. Three of the five starters weren’t on the roster last year.

Does 6-5 qualify for fallen behind? Record in 2023.

          Cal was also 6-5 in their injury-riddled 2022 season. Sh!t happens. IUP's 2023 season was a total throw-away.

IUP was good this year despite its 7-3 record. Not great, obviously, but good. They were a tough team.

They had some bad breaks and fluke losses. It happens. Granted, fluke losses seem to follow Tort's staff around. That's a different discussion.

We are on the same page. I'm not thinking about 2023. Nobody is in to the "woulda coulda" scenarios but the reality is that in 2024 had IUP had Stewart on the roster it most likely "woulda" been a completely different result. Plus, the injuries were uncanny. 2024 is over. Let's see what happens in 2025.

We all agree the coaching isn't the greatest.

Maybe IUP will buy them a sweatshirt. Very successful but very ignored by the campus community.

One thing that may surprise you non-locals is the IUP D1 Club hockey team actually has a pretty big following. They get some decent crowds.

No. But even if it did we’d probably drop in those standings anyway.

                      • Volleyball job just posted. Hoyer has accepted the head job at UNC-Wilmington.

I knew that wouldn't last long. She was on the fast track to greener pastures.

                          • Starting to see some high school recruits declare they are 110% and gonna give 100 (and all that other happy sh!t).

Tort is pretty heavy in the transfer market. I don't think this will be a big high school class. He has a ton of guys coming back so there isn't a whole lot of roster space. He also typically does some shopping after Spring Ball.

There a at least 3-4 FCS transfers ... all have offers from IUP, Cal and SRU. I'd assume they'll get spread around.

To my knowledge, however, they have yet to offer a transfer QB. If they did and he's on the way to Indiana, it was kept pretty quiet.

I could be off but I don't think Tort lost a single player to the Portal. He did lose one to the workforce. There may even be a player (or two) that walked on Senior Day coming back with some extra eligibility. There is such a rumor floating. Both are mixed in with Covid years and medical redshirts, etc.

Not surprising ... no major staff changes.

                              • There is a rather major announcement coming soon from IUP regarding the coaching staff.

Heavy rumor is there is a new OC. Quite the name, too - especially for this level.
