Heavy rumor is there is a new OC. Quite the name, too - especially for this level.

Are they good at tracking time outs?

IUP has always been Todd Graham’s dream job (along with all the others.)

                • Not gonna say I told you so, but ...

Larry Wilson is the new OC at Clarion.

Which, of course, means the OC job at IUP is "open"

                  Use "open" very loosely.

I'll say you can 99.9 percent say the new OC at IUP is Frank Cignetti Jr.

                      • I thought he was still at pitt. Does Jr have any chance of becoming head coach at IUP?

He was fired at Pitt the previous season. He didn't coach this past year.

Prior to Pitt he was at Boston College. Before that at many other D1 stops.

Can he count down from 3?

I’ve always felt that being the OC is harder than being the HC. Nobody is more second guessed than the OC and every armchair coach thinks they could call plays better. It’s easier for the casual fan to see an offensive play go bad than it is to recognize a poor defensive call, so the OC becomes an easy target. I think where most OC’s get into trouble is when they outsmart themselves and don’t simply stick with what’s working in a game. That would be my primary criticism of Larry.

As for Cignetti, Jr., they couldn’t wait to run him out of Pitt but name the last beloved OC in Pittsburgh at any level. It’s an extremely difficult job and a guy may call the best play for a given situation only to watch a player run a wrong route, miss an assignment, etc., and it’s the OC’s fault. I didn’t see enough Pitt games to have an opinion but he certainly has a ton of experience and football is usually pretty good in this town when a Cignetti is involved.

The legend of Timeout Gate continues to grow.

Just about every human in that stadium has been blamed for an entire coaching staff being unaware of the timeout count. Despite, of course, the entire home side screaming they were out of timeouts.

It's become a running joke on here - and, without question, part of Tort's legacy.

If you didn't see it ... you wouldn't believe it.
