Tort is an excellent recruiter. No question. Parents eat him up. He comes across as very down to earth, caring, trust-worthy, etc.
Which, of course, they should. That's not an act. He also sells the fact he's been here 25 years along with his top assistants. Parents love that stuff.
The KCAC will be packed today which really helps sell recruits.
Tort didn't lose a single player to the Portal. That's actually incredible.Last edited by IUPbigINDIANS; 01-25-2025, 10:25 AM.

For Jim Clements at Kutztown "big games" (same as above, replace Ashland with Assumption) he is 23-17. Assumption has really been a thorn in their side during his 10 years.
For Lutz at Rock (same as above, replace Ashland with New Haven) he is 24-16.

They still have Larry Wilson listed as the OC on their website even though he has been hired at Clarion. Cignetti status? Do they have to advertise the position? Have they done that?
What's up?

This is why some programs kill it on social media (volleyball stands out) and others post just enough to stay relevant. It’s too bad, really, but I think most are doing the best they can.

What's going on with the OC position? People outside of the program deserve to know.

Whatever the situation is, maybe there are legal implications to it I don't know, Wilson is the OC at Clarion. He is not the OC at IUP. To justify that by saying that it's up to each individual sport or maybe the AD has other more important things to do is nonsense.

It may seem like nonsense, but it's the reality.
They didn't even formally announce the women's basketball coach getting the job. An OC won't be high on the list.
IUP's had an interim SID for going on 6 months now (with next to no help).
It could also be said OC hasn't signed the dotted line yet (or something like that).
Larry Wilson still being on the site isn't a good look but .... I'm sure it's just another item on a long list. They desperately need some help (but can't hire anybody).

It's also a media (or lack thereof) issue. This should be covered somehow, some way. Whether it's outside media or a press release doesn't matter.
From just my personal experience, most schools update their website pretty quick when there are coaching changes. And schools don't leave their fanbase in the dark.

IUP, predictably, has signed a transfer QB that will no doubt be the starter on opening day barring something unforeseen like an injury. That’s my opinion and wasn’t printed in Matt’s Gazzette article. Coming to Indiana will be Matthew Rueve from Findlay where he was the starter on their 9-2 team last year, and he was at Boston College before that. He’s 6’4”, 215 lbs., and is being compared to Mak Sexton and Quinton Maxwell in terms of his style of play, meaning big arm and pro style passer. Interestingly, he was the top rated pro style passer in Ohio when he was coming out of high school and rated 56th overall by 24/7 Sports. Things just didn’t work out at BC, which is explained in the article. He has one year of eligibility left.
IUP is also bringing in two defensive backs, Mekhi Johnson (Millersville) and David Awuah (Seton Hill) and wide receiver Devin Whitlock (Pitt). The OC position was mentioned but apparently it’s just procedural in terms of naming the successor to Larry Wilson. They have to advertise the job. They will stay at 10 games next season getting their week off right before playing Slippery Rock and Cal back-to-back, and they plan to bring in a sizable class of 18-20 high school kids on National Signing Day.
I did my best to hit the highlights for those who don’t get the Gazette.
