It’s pretty simple. If you can’t pitch, you better be able to hit and vice versa. If you can’t do either, you’re not going to win many games.
    Oh no we suck again.

    Well..we’ve been cursed.

But it was an EXCITING day.

That's pretty crazy. I thought Kline was a magnet for pitching prospects. I don't understand how they could lose that momentum from last year. Any further insights?

They lost some key guys from last year (who would have been seniors this year). That didn't help.

But, overall, it's a strange bird. How you go from a winning record at the College World Series to a dumpster fire start in one off-season is pretty hard to fathom.

The arms are getting rocked nearly every game. I don't mean 'hit' ... I mean rocked.

This weekend may be a massacre. After how last year ended, I can promise Seton Hill has been waiting for this series all off-season.

I’m of the opinion that IUP needs to win 3-4 against Seton Hill to save their season. If it goes the other way, the hole got deeper and they didn’t gain any momentum.

Baseball is a funny animal. The season is so long that the most important thing is to be hot at the right time. That’s what IUP was last year. If your regular season is bad enough though, you never get that opportunity. In college baseball, if you can’t pitch you have zero chance. You can’t just call someone up from AAA or make a trade. You have who you have and you either get it turned around or you get buried. The TEAM ERA is just short of 8.0. It’s not like a guy or two is struggling.

Just to get back to .500 this season IUP has a ton a work ahead of them. I would bet against it.

They should have been able to build on last year's success. From what I can see, d2 baseball is even more transfer-oriented than other sports. Did they not recruit (well)?

              IUP was cursed on 9/23/24.

IUP men’s sports has been off the rails since….but it was an EXCITING day. IUP sports is going the same route as Rudy 9/11.

No idea. Nobody follows baseball like we do football or basketball. The team gets very little (if any) coverage.

So, they could be swimming in injuries for all I know.

Seton Hill won the first two games of the series outscoring IUP 35-5. IUP is now 3-15 and their season is toast. They are dead last in the PSAC West and have the worst record in the entire PSAC by four games. In other words, they are currently the worst team in the conference and among the worst in all of D2.

When a team gets curb stomped like IUP did yesterday, it signals that there’s something far worse going on than a few key injuries or players lost to graduation or the portal. These recent IUP losses aren’t even competitive losses. They have given up 15, 19, and 16 runs respectively with an average run differential of 12. This isn’t a team that’s fighting to compete. It’s a team that packed it in already and it’s only March.

Is there any media coverage of this team? What is Kline saying?

No. They didn't get coverage last year until they won the Regional.

                          It's back to nobody caring.

Well, we cared when they were winning.

A good athletics program will have good coverage and not just for the "big" sports.

IUP has fallen out of that category. The coverage across the board stinks. All of the other schools have their Spring football rosters up on their website. IUP does not. That's just one example. I really don't want to hear about how the Sports Information department is short-handed and there is an interim director. They need to get it together and have more and better output like the SID used to and like the local media used to.

No disagreement here. Their coverage absolutely stinks.

It doesn't take a freaking year to hire an SID. They could have 40 applicants tomorrow.

Something needs to change over there.

Speaking of falling, the Homer City power plant was imploded yesterday. That's a huge part of the skyline driving along 422.
