Thanks. I can always count on GregD to produce the schedule. But that is not my point. My point is that it isn't even posted on IUP's website. It's April 2. As far as baseball, we can only speculate as to what might be going on with the team because there isn't even a nominal amount of coverage.

I believe the 'official' answer is the the football schedule may not be finalized yet. They haven't ruled out adding an 11th game (if the stars align).

It would sure appear Edinboro will be the HC game.

That's quite a tale of 2 seasons with that bye week breaking it up.

I've seen some IUP teams go up there and thrive in the environment. Others have wilted.

The 2023 team lost before it got off the bus.

The 2021 team took it personally and rose up (winning 48-21). This was the team that had the incredible stadium entrance up there (stopping, turning around and taunting the crowd).

Every team and every season is different.

Funny thing about those two games ... for being a heated rivalry, both coaches showed mercy. Tort could have probably hung 65 in that 2021 game. Conversely, Lutz could have done the same in 2023.
But they get two weeks to prepare for Slimey Pebble.

              • Baseball completed a 4-game sweep of Lock Haven.

IUP gave up (3) combined runs in (4) games.

The arms seem to be settling down. They are closer to full strength now which is obviously helping.

                • Matt had the latest update in the Gazette today. Key takeaways:

                  - No significant injuries
                  - Positives from the offense and defense
                  - Adding a few players from the portal still a possibility
                  - Players seem to be understanding the new offense, but expect a few mistakes
                  - A full spring game may not happen due to limited roster at some positions

An interesting side note. Matt asked Tort why he thought so few players leave IUP and enter the portal. Hi response was kids like going to school at IUP, they’re treated well, they’re developed, and they recognize that the grass isn’t greener on the other side of the fence. That’s a pretty basic response but there has to be more to it than that and I’ll give credit where it’s due. For all of the criticism about inexcusable losses, poor game management, and no recent playoff runs, Tort has done an incredible job keeping kids around. He’s been hit or miss on bringing impact guys in from the portal but he has a real knack for keeping guys around. That’s not easy to do in this era of college football.

IUP has the best setting in the West..why leave a place where there is more to do and have a better overall experience. I don’t understand the draw of Slimey Pebble.

When you talk to players who transferred to IUP they consistently mention the coaches as prime reasons why they came to IUP and why they stay.

Lock Haven is awful so anything less than a sweep against them would have been bad. Clarion is a little better but definitely wins they probably wouldn’t have gotten two weeks ago. They still have some bad teams on the schedule in UPJ and Gannon so if they can get a couple more wins today at Clarion they could still get into the PSAC tournament. Of course we all know anything can happen then.

They swept Clarion in the 4 game series. I watched the final inning of the 2nd game today. Nice comeback win. Keep it going.

                              • Interesting local story ... Norwin's school board just (narrowly) voted to move ahead with a major renovation of its football stadium.

What's funny is their 'current' stadium would far and away be the nicest in the PSAC West.

Anyway, they are dropping -- to start -- $25m on the project. This will include, among other things, demolishing the home side and rebuilding the home bleachers and press box.

Keep in mind, their current press box is like a Hilton compared to PSAC boxes.

For those unaware, Norwin is a large, 6A school in the Pittsburgh suburbs.

This gives an idea of what a renovation project at Miller Stadium would cost.
