  • Week 8 Live Thread

Top to bottom, this is one of the better weeks on the PSAC schedule. There's more toss-up games than usual.

Shepherd (7-0) at West Chester (4-3) - WCU had some hype entering the season. Things haven't quite gone as expected. West Chester likely won't win a shootout tomorrow. Can their defense keep Shepherd in check? Shepherd won a tight one against WCU a year ago, 42-38.

Edinboro (3-4) at Clarion (3-4) - The Golden Eagles have won two in a row, but are 0-3 at home this season. The Fighting Scots have dropped their past two. Edinboro has won (5) straight in the series.

Mercyhurst (2-5) at Gannon (5-2) - The Lakers are a disastrous 0-4 in West play. However, Mercyhurst has shown signs of being a decent team - occasionally. Gannon is certainly still in the playoff hunt but failed its big test last weekend in a major way at Slippery Rock. This is always a heated affair. Of note, the Lakers lead the all-time series, 17-7-1.

Shippensburg (3-4) at Millersville (2-5) - This would be a big step for the Marauders as they continue to rebuild. Shippensburg can get up to .500 with a win. Both lost a week ago. The Red Raiders' last loss in the series was in 2000.

Seton Hill (0-7) at IUP (6-0) - If you listen to coaches' shows in Slippery Rock, California or Indiana, you'd be convinced Seton Hill is the greatest 0-7 team in the history of the NCAA. The coaches of the Big 3 speak of this Griffins defense being similar to the 1985 Chicago Bears. Well, the D2 Monsters of the Midway are going to get a big test tomorrow inside Miller Stadium. With 70 degree temperature and no wind, the IUP passing attack will be in full force. Will Tort have the boys interested? That's the question. IUP is 8-0 all-time against Seton Hill.

East Stroudsburg (2-5) at Bloomsburg (3-4) - The Warriors hit the road losers of (3) straight. The Huskies are coming off an ugly 8-point win at Lock Haven. Hidden stat: ESU has lost four games by 6 points or less. This has been a very one-sided series as of late. Bloomsburg has won 13 of the past 15 meetings. ESU did win last year, 35-14.

Lock Haven (1-6) at Kutztown (5-2) - The Bald Eagles have lost 6 in a row. In those games, LHU has scored in double digits only once. This is obviously the total mismatch of the day. Lock Haven's last win in the series was in 2002.

Slippery Rock (6-1) at California (4-3) - Game of the Week. The Vulcans' disappointing, oh-so-close season is well-documented. Question is: Will the real Cal show up tomorrow or will the go-through-the-motions version we saw last week reappear? If the Vulcans are interested, this should be a great game. The Rock has won the past four meetings and 8 of the past 10 in the series.

The Clarion feed is broadcasting the audio twice so it's a constant echo that makes it almost impossible to understand.

They need to get this corrected as it’s impossible to listen to without getting a headache. The commercials are fine, but the broadcast is way off. I just muted the tv but you’re losing the play by play if you turn away to do any housework. Edinboro up 3-0 halfway through the first.

Also the Roku app dumps you everytime they go to commercial.

Boro blocks the Clarion punt. First play is a TD pass to Standfield.

        10-0 Edinboro

West Chester gets away with a borderline illegal men downfield, fires a touchdown pass to go up 7-0. 1:49 left in quarter 1

West Chester gets screwed on a third down spot to extend the drive for shepherd heading into the 2nd quarter.

Boro looking good against Clarion except for their OL getting dominated.

24-0 Edinboro but at least Clarion made them work for it.

Clarion offense starting to wake up. QB carrying the offense.

24-7 with 1:29 left in the half

I hate this awful music that West Chester plays during commercial breaks.

I'd guess the cover looks safe.
