I've always thought the best transfer season for deals was after Spring Ball. Granted, the major advantage of mid-year is they get to go through your session.

IUP plays the role of the dudes who show up to the party at 2AM sober and prey on the intoxicated girls on their way home...they let everyone wine and dine these kids for months then try to swoop in late and pick them off right before signing day. it's their tactic....they think they're pretty slick.

Works pretty well. I'm sure it goes something like this:

Coach: How would you like to instead play for a winning program?
HS Player: Yea! That sounds fabulous!

And, btw, how about more money, too?

IUP does have recruits in to games throughout the fall, but, you're right, they rarely extend any offers prior to January.

They also aren't taking the 'throw enough sh!t at the wall and see what sticks' approach. Not to mention any names (Clarion).

I think they do want to come in late (intentionally). When IUP offers a kid ... watch what happens. He gets about 4-5 more within 48 hours. The local 'D1' schools also tend to prey on IUP recruits (the Bobby Mo types).

The big DL who gave the verbal to Lock Haven is the perfect example. Since he committed (verbally) he's got 7 more offers ... from big boys such as IUP, SRU, West Chester and Cal. If that dude actually signs with LH next month ... I'll be shocked.

They’ve had a lot of success with the approach, they build relationships throughout the fall then backload most of the their visits and offers to the last 3 weeks before signing day to be the latest and most relevant at the right time. It’s worked well for them.

with Clarion, you have to remember that they entered last season with about 80-85 guys on the roster. Lost about 8-10 through graduation and a few random others so we they are probably sitting around 70 guys. They’d like that to be 110-115. So they’ve offered a lot because they intend to sign a lot. I’d say that hey are probably looking to sign 40 guys minimum.

Cumberland Valley WR Griffin Huffman committed to the free meal plan at West Chester over footballs scholarship offers from Cal, Clarion, Edinboro, and Seton Hill.

Some others I've seen out in the Twittersphere:

Walsh transfer Safety Diegro Bremer committed to #LitAF over an offer from Edinboro.

Apollo Ridge LB Nick Kurci committed to Duquesne over Cal, Clarion, Edinboro, and Gannon.

Pine Richland LB Max Heckert chose Slippery Rock over Bryant, Marist, Clarion, Edinboro, Gannon, and Lock Haven.

Another Lock Haven observation, they had a WIDE net in kids who attended their camps. Unsure if they had several or were really good at getting kids there.

Apparently the PSAC teams are "mad" to recruit against LH.

Thry have no money to offer and play on a practice field where the field hockey team has a higher priority.

Not to mention they haven't won a PSAC game since before Covid... 0-20 since Covid.
