That’s a little surprising. I thought with the jump from JUCO football to D2 they might consider a wider search for a coach with experience at this level.Originally posted by ESU Warrior View Post
I believe one of the assistants will be getting promoted to HC.“No matter how badly things get blown apart, we will always plant flowers again.”

Millersville's job was posted the next workday, so they could possibly be ahead, but honestly, you also want to wait until the season is over to get the best pool. The position only has to be posted for 30 days unless they get presidential approval to do a direct internal hire.Originally posted by TheBigCat2192 View Post
Between the collectively bargained hiring procedure and the Thanksgiving holiday I’d be shocked if they announce anything this week.

I visited the school with my son on junior day back in 2022 and left unimpressed between the dorms, food, athletic facilities and the stadium. Their players aren't getting football $ it's all private funding from the school via academic $$ so it's definitely a very hard job to succeed in. I'll be surprised if he can turn things around. They'd maybe be ok as a D3 program where they are recruiting against other struggling private schools.Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View Post
Yeah and honestly, that's probably as good of a hire as Wesleyan could have made. Kellar is a very good coach.

Yeah I have to wonder if they're struggling to budget the discounting needed to cover D2 athletics then they should strongly consider moving down. The future isn't going to be any easier.Originally posted by shipfbfan1 View Post

I said it on the MEC board, I think Buckhannon is a nice little town. I believe one of the CBS News White House correspondents, Weijia Jiang, her parents own the Chinese restaurant in town. There's just nothing around it for miles. That's either something you like or something you don't. But its got a lot more charm than Glenville.

It's a tricky question. WVW might win a few games in D3 but they would lose a majority of their traditional rivals, and I don't think they'd turn into a contender just by moving down. Is it worth winning 3 or 4 games in D3 with more travel and fewer local rivals, or winning 0 or 1 games in D2 but having less travel and more local rivals?
Maybe Kellar is a miracle worker and makes the question moot by winning 3 to 4 games in D2.

The ENMU athletic director was a compliance officer (!) at the U of Houston when Art Briles was the head coach there, that's why he took the chance on Briles. I'm honestly surprised he got the chance to coach again. He's 69 and presided over some of the worst things you could ever see happen in an athletics program (and it wasn't even the worst thing that happened at Baylor!) I'm sure he'll go all out for a couple years, and I think he's either going to put up a bunch of wins right away and possibly test the waters elsewhere or it flames out and retires.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post
It is beyond amazing a university President would sign off on hiring him.
Maybe he'll get Sandusky to be his D-Coordinator.
The ENMU Facebook page is advertising for season tickets already, so the athletic department is clearly all in.

He is the interim. They are still doing interviews. I heard there were a lot of applicants, but last month when this happened I heard he had the inside track.Originally posted by TheBigCat2192 View Post

Per Wikipedia, since getting canned at Baylor he’s coached at a high school in Texas and in the Italian Football League. He also was briefly hired as an offensive assistant by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL and as an OC at Grambling State but never coached with either due to public pressure; the Tiger-Cats reversed their hire and he resigned from Grambling after four days.Originally posted by cwfenn View Post
