  • Who did Robert Morris lose too?

For some reason, I thought they tweaked the clock rules in the second half because it was that massive of a domination by a (then) mediocre TCU squad. Although, it probably couldn't be any worse than, say, Robert Morris losing a few years ago to a team which doesn't even exist anymore.
Duquesne covered the spread that game in a rain filled game. The problem was they got their QB, Joe Mischler killed. He ended up being out all year which ruined their FCS season.

Alderson-Broaddus, which was about 7-8 years ago (give or take).

Well, if Bobby Mo just wanted to whore itself out, playing Pitt is perfect. Travel expense is next to nothing (a couple buses), no hotels, no flights, etc.

That's a real dumpster dive game for Pitt, however.

Pitt won't do it probably unless its an emergency replacement game. But they also pay enough that they could convince a better FCS team to change plans. They also won't play them in basketball beyond the games UPMC helped broker as part of their naming rights deals for new arenas at RMU and Duquesne. The specter of the 2012 YSU loss still haunts that program and its faithful.

Ya, I just looked and they played 12 minute quarters in the 2nd half. I thought it was even worse by memory.

It's amazing what a school is willing to do to make some money. It's literally a safety concern for a garbage small program to play a P5 team.

Using the Mercy Rule is just an embarrassment.

The FBS schools tried avoiding this by saying that FCS schools have to offer 56 scholarship equivalencies (out of a max 64). The problem is that the bottom dweller programs like the NEC are mostly private schools who can just budget in the additional discounts. Duquesne got $750,000 last year to lose to Coastal Carolina and West Virginia by a combined 122-24. There has been only one donation to Duquesne football in that range - and it was the lead gift on their "stadium" from the Rooney family.

                  • Another example of how the PSAC plays in a different world in D2 football. West Florida got $9 million dollars for naming rights to their new football stadium. Can you imagine how much half of that could do to any one of our stadiums?

I'd sure guess WF is gearing up. I can't see them down here in the bus leagues much longer. The other reality is who would pay $9m for naming rights of a D2 stadium? Perhaps there is more to the story (i.e. they are getting ready to go up).

But, yes, that would be insane.

Article says he's an alumnus and local business leader. Google tells me that he owns a home construction company. Crazy part is that his first gift was $100,000 to help the football program.

UWF is exploding. They are the new GVSU. They'll be huge in a while. An attractive school in an attractive area with a ton of potential students. They're also the only college sports program in the area. Pensacola is thriving. There are over 50,000 people in the city but over a half million in its metro. For comparison, that's 5 times as many people in the West Chester zip code. Being the darling of a metro starved for sports is a huge part of GV's success.

West Flori-duh isn’t going to stay D2 for long.

It’s just a step for them to move up.

Remember..IUP’s first D2 playoff game was against Central Flori-duh.

That is some fancy real estate down there ... Destin, Panama City, etc.

Beautiful place. That would be an incredible place to spend your college years.
